Rather than a bank holiday, I would suggest a forced holiday for Congress. No TV appearances Go home. Their belated bungling of the last bailout bill made things worse (the usual result of government hackwork.)
I can't see a huge rush into the market, for the simple reason that 70% of our economy derives from a totally tapped out consumer.The only rush we will see is to bankruptcy lawyers when the credit cards can't be paid.

Congress is already on vacation I believe. I think they only "work" about 100 days per year anyways.
