"'Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah; and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you"

or,,,how about we discuss this famous one,,,,,,what kind of "god" makes a dude murder his own son just to prove his loyalty.............if your "god" even asked me to murder my dog- let alone a son, i'd respectfully tell him to go fuck himself

What happened in this story?  Nothing he was seeing willingness to follow God no matter how crazy.   You do not want to believe in any God,  enjoy being justified.

and, since the bible considers adultery to be such a serious crime, punishable by death, why do so many so-called christians commit adultery without being put to death? Moses gave the law for those people in America we have different rules....

As for Gays sounds like you have an agenda...maybe it hits home, but my brother is Gay and a friend...but marriage is a union of a man and a women, in the US each state gets to decide how to handle that, no church.  If you want to live with Gays getting married move where it is allowed

as for the first two points, it sounds like there is an exception for all of the things that are too difficult or inconvenient for christians to follow.  why should anyone take christians seriously when no one seems to follow the Good Book and there are loopholes for everything ostensibly sacred.

as for the third point, i do have an agenda.  i don't like bigots and people who discriminate against others.  believe it or not, you don't have to be gay to have a problem with people discriminating against gays.  but i'm perfectly fine to have you assume i am gay.  that goes for black people and other minorities.  there are white people who don't like discrimination against black people.  remember a short time ago when marriage was defined as a union of a man and woman of the same race?

but we can save the gay marriage/discrimination argument for another day.  although, to tie it back in to our primary discussion, it's another area where christians lose credibility.  the bible says to stone gays.  many christians do a good job of discriminating against gays (see the concept of repression in your psychology text) but don't do what the bible requires.

as for the first two points, it sounds like there is an exception for all of the things that are too difficult or inconvenient for christians to follow.  why should anyone take christians seriously when no one seems to follow the Good Book and there are loopholes for everything ostensibly sacred.

as for the third point, i do have an agenda.  i don't like bigots and people who discriminate against others.  believe it or not, you don't have to be gay to have a problem with people discriminating against gays.  but i'm perfectly fine to have you assume i am gay.  that goes for black people and other minorities.  there are white people who don't like discrimination against black people.  remember a short time ago when marriage was defined as a union of a man and woman of the same race?

but we can save the gay marriage/discrimination argument for another day.  although, to tie it back in to our primary discussion, it's another area where christians lose credibility.  the bible says to stone gays.  many christians do a good job of discriminating against gays (see the concept of repression in your psychology text) but don't do what the bible requires.

Funny this is a passage referring and reminding the person what was done to their children not what they should do....but I am sure if you look you will find what God allowed the person to do back to the people who killed Jewish babies

For you non-believers, this is an email I just received....

Tim, Renee and I wish you and your family a fantastic New Year. May this year be the best you have ever had and your future years even better.

We had a horrible Christmas scare as we received a call two days before telling us that our daughter was critically ill and not expected to live. She was found in the elevator at work unconscious with no heart beat and no pulse. We raced off to be with her and got a Christmas miracle. They were able to save her and she is doing well at this time. Life can dish out some tough breaks at times. Prayers do help.
    Best Regards,

"So they sent twelve thousand warriors to Jabesh-gilead with orders to kill everyone there, including women and children.  "This is what you are to do," they said. "Completely destroy all the males and every woman who is not a virgin."  Among the residents of Jabesh-gilead they found four hundred young virgins who had never slept with a man, and they brought them to the camp at Shiloh in the land of Canaan.

The Israelite assembly sent a peace delegation to the little remnant of Benjamin who were living at the rock of Rimmon. Then the men of Benjamin returned to their homes, and the four hundred women of Jabesh-gilead who were spared were given to them as wives.  But there were not enough women for all of them.  The people felt sorry for Benjamin because the LORD had left this gap in the tribes of Israel.  So the Israelite leaders asked, "How can we find wives for the few who remain, since all the women of the tribe of Benjamin are dead?  There must be heirs for the survivors so that an entire tribe of Israel will not be lost forever.  But we cannot give them our own daughters in marriage because we have sworn with a solemn oath that anyone who does this will fall under God's curse."

Then they thought of the annual festival of the LORD held in Shiloh, between Lebonah and Bethel, along the east side of the road that goes from Bethel to Shechem.  They told the men of Benjamin who still needed wives, "Go and hide in the vineyards.  When the women of Shiloh come out for their dances, rush out from the vineyards, and each of you can take one of them home to be your wife!  And when their fathers and brothers come to us in protest, we will tell them, 'Please be understanding.  Let them have your daughters, for we didn't find enough wives for them when we destroyed Jabesh-gilead. And you are not guilty of breaking the vow since you did not give your daughters in marriage to them.'"  So the men of Benjamin did as they were told.  They kidnapped the women who took part in the celebration and carried them off to the land of their own inheritance.  Then they rebuilt their towns and lived in them.  So the assembly of Israel departed by tribes and families, and they returned to their own homes."

    Judges 21:10-24

We had a horrible Christmas scare as we received a call two days before telling us that our daughter was critically ill and not expected to live. She was found in the elevator at work unconscious with no heart beat and no pulse. We raced off to be with her and got a Christmas miracle. They were able to save her and she is doing well at this time. Life can dish out some tough breaks at times. Prayers do help.
    Best Regards,

not now Timmy,,,,,,,its' bible bashing time

but seriously, very happy for your friends daughter, but don't see what your argument is here?  are you saying that she lived because of the power of prayer?

yeah, i don't get this one.  how is it a christmas miracle?  why would God have this girl almost die in an elevator only to bring her back?  was She fucking with the girl?
