At the end of the day, i cant impose nothing on you and vice verse, but seriously, as each day goes by u are closer and closer to being in a state of just empty darkness for eternity based on your beliefs......

Rostos don't waste your time explaining it. It is very hard reasoning with lost souls. It is only going to get you frustrated.

No, I'm talking about the parts of the bible where it tells you to kill, or rape, or how to obtain a slave, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with a female slave. You did read the bible didn't you Wake up and stop cheering picking...the bible is far from a good book to live your life by.

All I can say is until you let God in your life it is unexplainable.  I was just talking to my wife about this the other day and I can tell you this.... The bible was a book written by people just like me and you that had a dream or vision of what it was God wanted them to tell other people.  I dont think that any other religion for that matter is necessarily wrong... I think that as long as you believe in something or believe that there is a higher power that is all God wants.  And to live your life to full potential and you can do that once you haveaccepted him in your life... There are billions of universes with billions of planets and I can see where you are coming from in that aspect but like I said as long as you believe that there is a life after this one, you will be rewarded..  Im not here to criticize your beliefs just like I dont criticize anyone elses...  The life you are born into relates to the way you believe and the life you choose to live and God wont punish you for that just as long as you believe that there is something else out there and that there is a creator of all things.. God Bless with however you decide to live your life..

This is classic. I spent my entire childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood in an Evangelical Christian, Catholic (high school), and Baptist (college) schools respectively. I've read the Bible cover to cover several times and have taken classes every semester of my educational life on Christianity. I have several key learnings from that time (more than 2/3 of my life), all based on common deduction, reason, and logic.

The first, is that the Bible (particularly, the Old Testament) is not a book of facts, but a loose history of Israelites.

The second, is that the Bible (particularly the New Testament, and even more so the Gospels,. as well as the book of Job which happens to be my all time favorite self help book) is a fantastic starting point when attempting to find answers on specific dilemmas that occur in everyday life. And I do not mean "the faith" part of Job, btw. I'm talking about the WILL to persevere and overcome adversity.

The third, and most telling learning (for myself, others will come to their own conclusions), is that organized religion (ie Christianity) is plain and simply, a business.

Faith, however, is a product of fear mongering and is the only thing those who follow specific religions fall back on to justify their beliefs. There are only two things that motivate individuals of any species, human, or otherwise. Greed and fear (Fight or Flight). Those two things are not given to only US (humans) by a mystical creator. They are natural survival techniques learned by millions and millions (maybe billions) of species over eons to ensure survival.

That is the Reader's Digest version on my view on religion and faith, but really the hypocrisy shown by most of those who claim themselves to be pure and righteous in this thread are also wearing avatars of half naked women and live a life of sin by gambling and talking all sorts of other unholy shit on these forums, is what turns me off to religion and faith the most.

Faith my man, that is all I can say.  I do know one thing is that the more I try to understand this life and figure out the unknown the more I question God.  I have since stopped because I know that all religion is based on Faith and if he wanted you to know everything we wouldnt be here.  God is my creator and I will have an eternal life after this one, that I know....

heres what you do, read any athiest book... i read god is not great by christopher hitchens.. take it all in. then read whats so great about christianity? by dinesh dsouza and follow as he rips every one of their arguements apart. every one of em. then if you get to hear an interview from one of the athiests you can tell theyre just frustated nerds. my bad they like being called anti theists. at any rate ive never heard one of these clowns become atheist after some new evidence showed up from scientific gatherings. theyre atheist because their friend moved to another state when they were four yrs old. or because they didnt like that god could see them peeping on their sister when she was getting dressed. this anti theist movement is based on absolutely nothing.

It has become my belief that there are basically FIVE different kinds of people...

    1) Those who are basically good people.

    2) Those who are basically bad people.

    3) Those who are somewhere in the middle, both good and bad at times (This is where I believe that the majority of human beings can be grouped into).

    4) Those who project that they are good but are NOT.

    5) Those who are percieved as bad but are NOT.

One of the most important things for everybody to learn in life is the difference between these five and the ability to determine which is which in our daily lives.

There is no such thing as a human being who is perfect all the time. We all make mistakes. One thing that all "good" people believe in is that humans are free to live life and make choices. This also applies to what you choose to believe in, whether you coose to believe in "God" or not is your own choice and you should be allowed to be free thinking to believe... or not.

At time in our lives, we will all make "good" and "bad" decisions pertaining to our own individual lives. Each of us will, at one point or another, do, say, or by omission/lack of involvement be involved in something that is NOT benificial to those who are around us, who also share life as we know it.

The entire relationship we have with our personal beliefs can be split into two areas.

The first area is how and what we believe in and how we live our own lives internaly, be it the mind and body(for those who discard the thought of a "God") or the soul(for those who accept a divine purpose for each individual). Of course those who choose not to believe in "God" are left with the belief in themselves and their individual abilities. Those who do believe in "God" do so with the promise that there is a greater power than themselves.

The second area is how and what we do and it's effects on our relationships and the lives of others.

So the first area, although just our individual beliefs, is important for us because without a solid foundation we would not have the ability to survive within ourselves. It also will determine much of how we conduct ourselves when it comes to the second area which is important because we ALL must live our lives interacting with others (unless you choose absolute isolationism and there are some rare cases of that).

By choosing NOT to believe in a "God" you are actually choosing to believe in something because even if it's just knowledge of life and life matters... you have a belief system.

By choosing to believe in "God" you are setting a foundation for living your life beyond that of what is normally percieved by humans during everyday living.

There is no difference between the two when it comes to believing in something. We all MUST believe in something. The difference is in WHAT do you believe.

I want to use an analogy here... In the TV show... "The Amazing Race"... ALL participants are given instructions pertaining to where, when and how they are to proceed. Now imagine that two participants arrive at the given location together and one followed the instructions and one did not. The one who did not will receive a penality (must wait time) which delays their official arrival. The other follows the instructions and is rewarded with an arrival time that places their finish according to how well they did in the race.

This is how those who believe in "God" attempt to live their lives... by a set of instruction that is based on their perceptions of "God". The non-believers are also permitted to compete in the race. There is nothing wrong with allowing a person to believe in what they choose to believe in. This is the first area of life.

If you choose to not believe in "God" yet project your internal belief system on others by condeming those who do, and blame those who do for all your problems, then you are taking the first area of your life and allowing it to affect your second area, which is life amongst others. After all... YOU choose to follow your own rules which you can conveniently change to benifit yourself depending on your situation. But for those with "God" they will attempt to follow the rules and no matter if they fail or succeed the rules still apply to them as they do to those who are not with "God". Remember, No One is perfect... We all fall short in the end.

If you are not with "God" and manage to life both areas of your life well enough have a "good" life and are happy, then good for you and I'm glad you're happy cause that's all you'll get.

I also have a problem with organized religion as it is being conducted therefore I simply conduct my relationship with "God" by living as best as I can according to the life and spiritual instructions that "God" has provided to me, be it by written word or the spirit... the soul that guides me. Am I "Good"...No. Am I "Bad"...No. I am both... and I know it, as does "God"... but I try to improve as best as I can and without delusions of myself or others. I try and live in the spirit... I am far from perfect but knowing that I have a connection to a caring spirit is comforting and helps me survive.

Good Luck and I'll see you all at the finish line... because we all get there someday.

religion is about faith.  you have it or don't.  most want empirical evidence but much of religion is based on the unseen or invisible world.  I am sure many believe in the action of doing good deeds and in the hopes that someday they will be rewarded or build good karma for themselves or others.
It is true religion does divide people and the world and is run like business, but there are good points to all religion and hopefully someday we can all get together.  Peace should be the end result not conflict or destruction.
Why are we here?  Try asking this to all the great scholars or philosophers of our times.......  I try to seek out answers from many sources like literature, nature, my church, friends, family.
What really matters is the now, yesterday is gone and tomorrow may never come.  Today is all that matters.

For people that want to see a really good debate, i highly recomend u watch this debate....It is a series...very very good between 2 of the brightest minds....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQtaGV3CKtk

Dr Craig puts up 5 very very good points for the existence of God...For the Atheist Hitchens, not only doesnt he debunk any of those 5 arguments.....he then cant even put up an argument for atheism.....

Hitchens got owned, posterized like a lebron dunk.....

    Anyways, i highly recomend it

If u bothered to watch the video instead of thinking u KNOW everything and are right about everything, Dr Graig gets asked that question......

Number 1 rule in SCIENCE.......U dont have to explain the explanation.......

I will give u an example.....

Pretend for one moment that no man has ever gone to the moon or launched anything into space......

Then one day man goes to the moon and finds some machinery on the moon....

What will u think immediately.....That the machinery is a result of intelligent design probably by aliens....Thats all u have to know,....

Do u have to know about the "thing"that created that machinery? No.U just know it is the resulf of inteligent design.....

I suppose that concept is to hard for u to fathom....
