Which is exactly why I feel that instead of having the medical professionals we do have see twice as many people how about something really wild and crazy like educating more medical professionals...
Right now a common complaint is doctors do not spend enough time with patients... Doubling the amount of patients a doctor sees is NOT going to mean more time for each patient with the doctor...
As to the exact specifics of what to do I am not sure... One good start would be increasing the taxes on cigarettes, booze, soft drinks, and candy. Use the monies for medical scholarships.

The Insurance companies are more interested in making profits than paying out huge medical bills could care less about your personal health. The Pharmaceuticals only interest is hyping up bad meds to make a profit and could care less about the side effects of such shoddy research. The only thing that matters is hurry up and bring it to market. We will deal with the lawsuits later. We haven't been #1 in the medical field for at least 20 years. We are falling further behind in this area hence the need to import literally plane loads of Filipino nurses to work in some of our hospitals.
Now we have people saying everything is fine. "Our system is the best" These mental midgets are like Nero playing the harp while Rome burns. EVERYTHING ISN'T FINE AND WE DON'T HAVE THE BEST MEDICAL SYSTEM ANYMORE! With that being said something has to be done. Obamacare isn't perfect and it wont address all the issues but at least it's a first step to where we need to be. No matter what you say I was raised to believe that if someone else can do something then you can do it as well. The entire industrialized world has a healthcare plan for their people. All I'm saying is if you really believe in Americans and American exceptionalism then why in the world should we be the only country that refuses to provide a basic need for it's people. We will and are paying more money now under the present system which will collapse if something isn't done.
