Maybe more than we remember.  Once 5 undefeateds. Once no undefeateds but plenty of 1 loss teams. 
Look at last week of 2007 when back to back weeks too two teams lose.  2006 Boise and 4 1-loss teams. 
Lotta folks thought 5-6 teams better than Notre dame. Couple times Boise and TCU and Utah had beefs.

I think the point in 8 is that would be even less chance of a controversy. I agree usually with the top 4.  But I can see a discussion for couple outside of top 4.  There are times when a team has lost a game or even two and because of that have no shot at top 2 or even top 4.  But the way they are playing at the em of the year nobody would want to play them.  I think with 8 you almost certainly take out controversy.  Could even squeeze in a Boise or Utah just to show folks why playing a weak schedule shouldn't guarantee them a shot at the title.

also, i like how youre sticking with clemson in a possibly-biased move.. haha.. but really, the defense is legit enough to shut down BC and the qb should be able to lead enough scoring drives to cover. 

I saw them go neck & neck with my seminoles this year.. thats a tough, young team that is learning how not to self-destruct.

It is suspicious to me that it took so long to institute a playoff system, and they only did it under the premise that humans will decide who is in it... using the old BCS computer system would have made much more sense!
