*** Continued ***

VT will be breaking in 2 new interior linemen. 275 pound Beau Warren will be making his 1st collegiate start at center where his counterpart Cody will outweigh him by 80lbs. I think we can safely predict how that matchup will turn out.. Sure they will chip him with their best offensive linemen Render, but it's not just Cody, it's the entire Bama front 7. VT's line blocks small guys in practice. They will be completely unprepared for what they'll face against Bama. As I said in my original write up, and it's absolutely true whether you want to believe it or not, this a significant size and talent mismatch across the board.  VT WILL NOT run the ball. And if they can't run it, they're dead and stinkin'.

For the record Saban has never said that his line wasn't ready for college ball. If they weren't they wouldn't be on the team. Saban knows, I know, you know and everybody else knows that the greatest unknown for Bama on either side of the ball is their offensive line. And that that is VT's best matchup in the game, and the one they have the best chance of exploiting. But that doesn't necessarily mean VT will be successful in doing so. Personally, based on what I've seen, I think VT's D-line will win some and lose some. But I hardly think it will dramatically alter the outcome of the game.

And for the record, it appears everyone will be playing for Bma except Daederick (the guy that got shot last night), so most of this discussion will be moot.

 Best of luck to you this weekend!!!

LOL!!!  Of course you're 100% correct KSU!!!  But hell, it's the 1st week of college football, and everybody has a hardone - including me.  Things will calm down next week!!!

And ignore the ass-clowns that come back after the fact and use these posts to say "I told you so".  Some dipshits...you'd be wise to read both of their info and say "thanks" because they obviously know their shit.

I've seen him around in other posts before, so I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't start fights, but I don't shy away from one either if provoked.

I hope you have a great year BigPapa!!!

You to My man   Good Luck and I like your play. what about this Deaderick getting shot? Anything on that?

Jimmy, I agree 113%, Who cares what others think about your opinions of this game.   Your write-up is how you see the game being played and others want to argue for the simple fact they really don't know jack shit about Bama ball.  You are dead on the money on this game in my eyes and it's not just because I'm a huge Bama Rammer.  If Bama was playing a Fla., Texas, or any other team with the talent they have I would man up and say they could lose, but VT (no disrespect) just ain't in the same league.  Let me state VT's defense might be but not their offense.  Taylor 2tds to 6ints and offensive line giving up 88 sacks over the last two years spells better luck next time.

Tech has generally owned first-year starters over the past five seasons.

Now, McElroy is no rookie. He’s a fourth-year junior, and that’s far different than some of the freshmen and sophomores on this list below. But there are plenty of QBs on the list with comparable overall experience. Guys to look at who didn’t have a lot of starts but had several years in their program prior to playing against Tech include BC’s Chris Crane, Cincy’s Tony Pike, LSU’s Matt Flynn, Clemson’s Will Proctor, Maryland’s Sam Hollenbach, Louisville’s Hunter Cantwell and N.C. State’s Jay Davis.

So take a look (note that this is only Divsion I-A opponents), draw your own conclusions, and I’ll see you back here on GAME WEEK! I’m so ready to watch some real football ...

*** TOTALS FOR 26 GAMES SINCE 2004 AGAINST QBS WITH FEWER THAN 10 CAREER STARTS BEFORE PLAYING VIRGINIA TECH ***

* Those 26 quarterbacks combined for 307 of 603 passing (50.9 percent) for 3,572 yards, 14 TD, 33 INT, 63 sacks; 257 rushes for 435 yards (1.7 ypc), 4 TD, 21 fumbles.

* The average for a quarterback in those 26 games was 137.4 yards passing, 16.7 yards rushing, 0.69 total TD, 0.81 fumbles, 1.27 interceptions and 2.42 sacks.

*** TOTALS FOR 18 GAMES SINCE 2004 AGAINST QBS WITH SIX CAREER STARTS OR FEWER BEFORE PLAYING VIRGINIA TECH ***

* Those 18 quarterbacks combined for 216 of 415 passing (52 percent) for 2,520 yards, 11 TD, 22 INT, 54 sacks; 212 rushes for 360 yards (1.7 ypc), 4 TD, 17 fumbles.

* The average for a quarterback in those 18 games was 140.0 yards passing, 20.0 yards rushing, 0.83 total TD, 0.94 fumbles, 1.22 interceptions and 3.0 sacks.

*** TOTALS FOR 9 GAMES SINCE 2004 AGAINST QBS WITH TWO CAREER STARTS OR FEWER BEFORE PLAYING VIRGINIA TECH ***

* Those nine quarterbacks combined for 88 of 185 passing (47.6 percent) for 1,111 yards, 6 TD, 8 INT, 20 sacks; 101 rushes for 298 yards (2.95 ypc), 4 TD, 7 fumbles.

LOL!!! I don't think I ever said that game was rigged, but based on some really mysterious UFO-type shit happening on other games I have bet in that state before, I'm leery.  So if a game looks too good to be true, and it's being played in Nevada, if I bet it, I'll bet the other way. Having said that, I'm pretty sure Texas Tech did cover that game last year.

I am a SEC guy myself and some what agree.  My only ?? Is the untested QB. I know he is suppose to be good but it took wilson a few years to reach his game.  The running game also worries me a tad but should be ok. VT Does have a good line and think they will get some pressure on the QB. If they can get the running game going early and take pressure of the QB they should be fine.VT does have speed on both sides of the ball much like Bama. Playing in GA will be home field for bama,which is a good thing. Turf is a SOB and Bama did loose both of the last 2 games on turf  With that being said. I think BAMA will be ready and win. I do think it will be a little closer then most think, 7 or so win??  GL ALL

Deaderick won't play from everything I'm hearing. If he does, he wins the "Badass of the Year Award" right out of the gate!!!

He will be replaced by Marcel Darius who is a better, but less experienced player. Even if Deaderick would have played, Darius would have played a lot of snaps, it would have been on the other side however. Darius is Bama's best pass rusher. The guy is tough. I think their pass rush may suffer a bit from Deaderick's absence, because he is also a good pass rusher. So instead of having Dareus & Deaderick in on passing downs, it'll be Dareus & Lorenzo Washington.

Bama is very deep on the D-line, so overall I don't think it'll have that much of an effect on the game, except as noted above.

Jason Worlds is an absolute beast.  He will probably have at least two sacks and cause a fumble along the way.  I am sure Bama will try to attack him straight on with the run because he is not the biggest guy, but man is he fast.

Tyrod will score at least one touchdown.  Bama will be surprised at just how fast TT is.

Virgil is a really good corner so I look for Bama to attack the other corner.  I am not sure if VT is going with Carmichael or not.  He is fast but not that experienced.

But having said all this, I will still go with Bama.  I always take an SEC team against an ACC team.

I remember when Virginia Tech played Auburn in the Sugar Bowl about 4 or 5 years ago and VT had a hard time scoring in that game.  The spread was 6 and VT covered losing by 3 with a long TD pass with 2 minutes to go.  Final score Auburn 16 VT 13.  Maybe people expect the same outcome.  Auburn did have four guys on that team that got drafted in the first round.

Excellent post!!!

I've seen these stats before. There is no denying the capabilities of Bud Foster's defenses. The guy is very good, and it is no secret they will be coming after McElroy in this game (see article link above). As has been pointed out multiple times on this thread, on that side of the ball, it'll boil down to Bama's O-line. If they give McElroy a little time to operate, I'm completely confident that he'll have a good game. If they don't . . . not so much.

I agree with everything you say, especially about Worilds. And I certainly wouldn't be surprised if TT scores a TD either. They are VT's best two players for sure.

Last year Julio was a true freshman and only played one WR position. This year he has practiced at all the WR positions. So what Bama will do in this game is move him all over the field to try to create mismatches (I should say bigger mismatches because regardless of who covers Julio, it's a mismatch). You will see a much more diverse offense from Bama this year.

 Best of luck on the season!!!

Dude, that avatar is

It'll all come down to Bama's re-vamped O-line. If they give McElroy a little time to operate, he'll do great. If they don't, he probably won't.

If you're worrying about Bama's running game, I can assure you that you are worrying about the wrong thing. Their running game is very stout!!!

Have a great year!!!

Scout had Bama finishing #2 and Rivals had Bama finishing #1.  LSU WAS ranked #2 by Scout and #1 by Rivals until they lost 5-star prospect Janzen Jackson to Tennessee on NSD.  That dropped them to 3 & 2 respectively.

Thanks Koko - much appreciated!!!

Brandon Deaderick is out for the game, but it should have liitle effect on the defense or the game.

Unfortunately, I will not be in Atlanta this weekend. I was actually able to get a ticket, but I gave it to my nephew who is a student at Bama. He really wanted to go badly because, like me, he's from Virginia, and many of the people he went to high school with go to VT. He almost went to VT himself.

Lump up the books this year Koko!!!
