For the first time in four seasons, Florida coaches were talking positively about redshirt senior receiver Andre Debose. Dubbed the second coming of Percy Harvin, Debose struggled to live up to the hype and had a career highlighted by nagging injuries through four years, including his redshirt season.
Debose can unfortunately add another injury to the list.
He ‘tweaked’ his knee last night in practice, ultimately revealing it was in fact a torn ACL, as reported by GatorCountry.
This is a tough blow to the receiving corps. Not only was buzz finally picking up entering his senior season, but he’s also an impact player on special teams. In fact, Debose owns a school-record four kickoff touchdown returns for 1,592 yards. Although he’s totaled just 29 catches for 543 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons, consistency had always been his problem. He was finally starting to become consistent.

Florida is already thin at the position and in search of major contributors. Freshmen Demarcus Robinson and Ahmad Fullwood are expected to contribute, along with returners Quinton Dunbar, Solomon Patton and Latroy Pittman. The offensive wild card is corner Loucheiz Purifoy.
The hits keep on coming for Florida in the injury department. QB Jeff Driskel is currently out recovering from an appendectomy, OG Jon Halapio is out with a torn pectoral muscle and RB Matt Jones has had a viral infection and is said to have lost 10-15 pounds.
Debose can apply for a sixth year of eligibility through a hardship waiver.
