Did someone really just say alabama was running up the score in the 2nd half? My god that is retarded. They had the most conservative uninspired offense i've seen in the 2nd half, they didnt even move the ball in the 3rd quarter and got a td early on in the 4th and mid way through the 4th after a turnover.

Michigan's last TD was on Defense and they didn't score an offensive TD in the last 27 minutes of the game, but don't let facts stop you from a good story. Some of you guys are either clueless or fucking retarded
Same result. It's all about padding the stats, i.e margin of victory for the voters, but don't blame the coaches, blame the system. It has to be done when you're highly ranked as #4 Stanford is, regardless of how it's achieved. Mich just had a field day of it today. If Stanford didn't win convincingly, BSU could jump them in the poll.

Bama scored an unnecessary td in the 08 NC game against Texas. Texas didn't call timeout, waving the white flag. Bama could've kneeled it.

How often do you hear the talking heads saying, "Well since Team A didn't beat Team B convincingly, I can't put them ahead of Team C that beat Team B convincingly."

That's where the AP poll come in comprising of sportswriters from across the country. Then there's the coaches poll, which many of them don't get to see as much games as the fans do and often vote according to statistics. Of course, last is the computer poll which ranks teams down to the thousandth of a percent. Every little point helps the winning team's cause, esp. the top tier teams in the country.
This is not the first nor will it be the last that we'll see teams running up the score. That's just a fact.

Don't forget we're talking about a guy with individual motives too. Trying to go out as the Heisman winner along w/#1 pick, a/la Cam Newton last year, so gotta pad the stats.
I thought it was pretty classless myself. Game is over. Run the ball, run out the clock, kick a field goal if you have to. You really think the 4 point difference in points vs. a terrible UCLA team is going to make a difference in the BCS?
Shit like that comes back to haunt you, at some point.

classless is Oaklahoma blowing out Ball St. Is it necessary for them to score 62-6? Why not stop at 42-6? Because they need to cover the Vegas spread of 40.5
With 12min still left in the 3rd qtr Sooners score no offensive touchdowns the rest of the game......1 fumble return for a TD in 3rd qtr and 3 points in the 4th qtr.....Jones had 80% of his passing yards in the 1st half.....
running up the score??? get your facts straight you morons......they could have easily scored 80 tonight...
