Will be interesting HockeyNight to see what percentage of students and their families decide to attend school in person, versus the stay-at-home remote learning option.

Whatdaya reckon, do you think it'll approach >50% go to on-campus learning?

That could be a great sportsbook bet in and of itself!

Over/under on how many students attend on campus at the U of Michigan this season?

Hard to say at this point, classes don’t start for another 2 months. A lot of things can still change between now and then including treatments.

Dorm residences obviously are a concern, but Michigan as a whole has a really good handle on the virus right now, cases are not widespread here.

Another thing to consider is the effect Covid has on the college aged people.  Per CDC, persons aged 15-24 accounted for 11,000 deaths in the US between Feb 1- June 17.  125 of those were Covid related.  Not a high risk age group.  Most kids don’t take this seriously anyway, so I’d say well above 50% will return to campus for classes in August.

Rationale for having a season is simple.  Rationale for not having a season is simple & understandable.

when we’ll know for sure is literally when they kick off the season.

Have Missed this place over the last 4 plus months...Been doing without Ball for so long I forgot about getting my Steele Mag until today...UNREAL..usually have to ordered months ago..LOST Time....IMO:

NFL...will play some type of season this year because they A) Get Paid to play and that's their Job..B) NFL is needed to get USA going with Money flow from Companies with Commercials..from Ads in stands (To help people distancing) and Bobblehead like nights.. C) also the Big time Sports Betting that has been on Vacation...

College...This could become Tricky and have a lessor chance to Happen...Mom and Pop are not going to be happy sending JR half way across the USA away from home to an area that the Virus is at a higher amount...Not the same and the Reasons WHY NFL will play is weighed heavy by the first thing..Their Job that is being Paid to do....

Now I hope we have something...cause I feel Rusty as Hades...My Wife is about to Strangle Me...I have worked everyday Since Feb 14th..6 days a week (120 plus days) now to protect my girls here at Pharmacy from bringing in a Relief Pharmacy from another area...NEED some Ball....Everyone Be Safe...God Bless and God Speed.......Thor24

I think we'll have a college football season, but with reduced out of conference play. Or OOC games will be shifted to later in the season.

Much easier to control who is in contact with the team from Ohio St to Michigan, less so Ohio St and Oregon.

I think you'll see universities expand or even mandate online options. UGA I believe has already stated they will shut down after Thanksgiving and go back to online only for the last week of school. Makes sense.... everyone will be visiting different folks during that week off.

With the NBA, MLS about to kick off and MLB not far behind, I think the NFL and CFB will have a decent blueprint for how to go forward. Football can't use the "bubble" technique like the NBA or MLS but they could certainly restrict to conference play only pretty safely.

My doctor can’t say it publicly but he told me  they should let all the players get the virus and they would be over it by the start of the season.Im not sure on my views with that statement

If all the players got the virus, a few percent would die or have their health seriously harmed.  That isn't worth a season to me...

You already won "College plays full season" , at least in the fall/winter.

I think NCAA Hoops is also going to be canceled or moved to the spring.  NCAA just needs to wait this out.  They are going to put a lot of people through a lot of trouble (cleaning weightrooms every 5 minutes, testing, babysitting players) for nothing. NCAA went from rich to bankrupt in 6 months....

If they do lose the year, it will be interesting to see what they do with scholarship.  Team are counting on players graduating to make room for freshman to stay under the limit.  They need a freshman class, so they will probably increase the scholarship limit for one year.  But that will cost teams a lot of money they don't have (20 scholarships * 75,000 just for football) and what are teams going to do with 100+ scholarship players?

Yes, you have "already won", congrats! Your a winner!

Since February 1st 12,958 Americans between the ages of 15-24 years old have died in the United States. Some by accidents, some by violence, some by drugs, some by suicide, and some by illnesses, etc. There were 257 deaths that were from pneumonia NOT COVID related, 51 deaths from Influenza.

Of the 12,958 dead, 149 are COVID related. So add 1.15% to the death rate of an age group and it stops the world of sports.

There were 2081 deaths of children aged 5-14. Of those deaths 68 were pneumonia NOT COVID related, 46 were from influenza, and 14 were from COVID. Oh, we can't have school now!!

This is facts. This is science.

My reference for the above data; https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-COVID-19-Death-Counts-by-Sex-Age-and-S/9bhg-hcku

There are no meters for death other than COVID. The people of the U.S. are so gullible.

UNI it's not happening.  Conferences saying "we're only playing an 8-10 game conference only slate" are really just buying as much time as possible before they say they're moving the season to the spring or cancelling all together.

I've been really really optimistic about this whole thing, and still believe we had a great shot at this back in May... but we've done a terrible job since that time.  The odds are very low that any of the kids would get really sick from this, but as of today our best remedy for covid-19 is a mask and 6 feet of distance.  The transmission throughout this country as of today is out of control, can't expose any possible risk of non-paid, non-represented 18-23 year olds.

We'll get through it, but not in time for September.  Oct/Nov could yield a vaccine from the Oxford group & Dec/Jan could yield a vaccine from several US companies.  Without a full shut down again & with people thinking for some reason their rights are being taken away by being told they need to wear a mask then I don't see "normal" returning until the Super Bowl - MLB Opening day timeframe (just a wild guess given the uncertainty of vaccine + availability).

At least HOCKEY is returning August 1! That schedule looks incredible.

I wouldn't say out of control in this COUNTRY. California, Texas, Florida, and Arizona yes! Michigan and several other states holding their own. Like H1N1 I do not see it ever going away. 60 million in the U.S. were presumed infected with H1N1, we are only at 3.5 mil. right now.

Have to add several southern states such as Georgia, S.C., and Louisiana too as losing control.

I don't see how they could move College football to the Spring.

If I'm a Senior or intending to declare for the NFL draft ,

in the Spring , I'm preparing for the NFL Combine .

If College Football isn't going to pay me , the NFL will. moneyeyes

That’d have to be a choice for each individual athlete.  Some, I’m sure, would want to improve there stock.  There are thousands of college football players, and.... what 250 get drafted?

The talent of the younger players is better than ever, we’d just get to see those guys sooner if a lot decide not to play.
