1998- Sandusky is investigated for sexual child abuse but no charges are filed - At this time Joe Paterno knows Sandusky is a sick man- totally innocent men don't get investigated for having sexual contact with CHILDREN

1999- Sandusky retires (or is forced to retire by AD/Paterno)

He is given special status on campus, given an office, parking pass, and unlimited use of the facilities.

2002 - He is found sodomizing a CHILD in the locker room shower

So for 3 years Joe Paterno knew this guy was a threat but did nothing- now he hears this guy molested a child and does NOTHING again

If any of your dummies think telling the AD was the only thing he should have done then you are either ignorant or your love for Joe Paterno won't let you admit he was WRONG for doing nothing else.

If they didn't beleive the story, then why did they have a meeting and ban Sandusky from bringing children to the campus?

By doing that, they basically said you can molest children elsewhere but not on our property

And McCreary is just a p-ssy and is guilty as Paterno- but he was probably scared to death to rock the Penn St. program and went to his dad then to Joe Paterno

Sandusky was his friend and coached with him forever. And this surfaces now? They wait until the day after his historic victory to let this out! Coincidence? No way

December 2010 - this could have come out then but it was kept hush hush until he got his precious victory- fuck him and everyone else involved

I don't understand how people can have a "wait and see" stance on this in regards to Paterno. If you read the report, it's almost completely clear that he knew in 2002 and that's at the absolute latest, pro-Joepa date you can come up with. Decent chance he even knew in 98 when police were notified about this, he's king on that campus if police know something about Sandusky Paterno will find out soon thereafter.

The point here is not just Paterno, it's everybody. It's so fucked up. So many people did the wrong thing so many times over such a long period of time, it's incredibly sad that this truly could have been stopped but continued to go on for two decades to a countless amount of kids. There are 8 victims in the report, there are probably countless others who are 22-25 years old now and just want no part of the story.

You people who are going out of your way to point out Paterno and Mcqueary (sp?) did the legally correct things are assholes, you really are. This guy walks in on Sandusky fucking a 10 year old boy in the ass in the shower, tells his dad, and then tells Paterno the next day. No police, really? And along the entire chain of command, not a single person asks who the kid was, his name, where did he go after he left the shower, is he ok, etc..It's truly sickening.

He fucking brought kids to closed practices. Games, bowl games, he must have been seen with young children on campus literally hundreds of times without anything being legitimately done. This is so awful.

Joe did NOTHING???  He fired Sandusky when the cops couldnt even find enough to arrest the guy.

I dont know if any of you know this but 3 things here make it very hard for Joe or anyone of non-legal authority to do much more.

1.  Sandusky was not convicted of a crime, just suspected and that was enough in 1998 for Joe to fire him, but the police do nothing even after a mother of a victim states that Sandusky admitted this behavior.

2. Lawsuits, you have to be careful how let someone go nowadays.  Joe couldnt say he was letting Sandusky go because he was a child molester because that is defamation of character and Paterno can lose his job, the university can be sued by this clown etc etc.  Again, Joe fired him on suspicion, the cops let him go in spite of it.

3. IF someone is not convicted of a crime by POLICE, like Sandusky was not at the time, you cant just tell someone you cant step foot on campus.  That is illegal.  The University of Michigan cannot tell me i cant go walk around their campus because i was investigated by police for child molestation but never charged.  We dont live in China.

Joe did do something, in fact at least two things we know of.  Fired Sandusky in 1998 after first catching wind of this and after investigators found nothing to charge the creep with.  Then, in 2002, he told the AD what he had heard, not saw with his own eyes, second hand from McQueary.  Blame McQueary all you want, blame the AD and the other guy, BLAME the Cops, BLAME Sandusky, BLAME the negligent high school teacher who saw Sandusky numerous times on a wrestling mat late night with these kids, BLAME Sanduskys wife for not having a fuckn clue.  After all those people are blamed, blame the president of university.  Then, maybe after Joe talks, you can blame him.  But let him speak to what happened.  He did do things, we know that.  The media has made him out to be a monster and turned attention away from the child molester.  Let the man speak and than crucify Joe if you like once we all get the facts.

You cant just ban a guy from walking on campus or using facilities because you think he is a child molester.

Joe had to be careful how they fired Sandusky for fear of defamation of character suits.  Its not so cut and dry as sandusky had them by the balls in a way since the cops never charged him.

joe fired him when the cops didnt even arrest the guy in 1998.  joe told the AD in 2002, he did do something though it may not be up to par with some standards of everyones morals.  the guy wasnt working for joe anymore and it was hearsay from that point as joe did not eye witness the account in the shower.

I totally disagree with you- Sandusky retired- or maybe Joe forced him to "retire" At this point he needs to wipe his hands clean of the guy. 1998 Cut all ties to the guy

However- FACT- Sandusky was given special "Emeritus" status- they gave him an office and phone listing on campus. He was given complete use of the facilities, a parking pass, access to a Penn St. account for the internet, he had a listing in the faculty directory, and got book store discounts and educational priveledges for himself and eligible dependants.

Sandusky was also allowed to bring children to games, events, and other extracirricular stuff on campus.

NONE OF THIS HAD TO BE DONE- PERIOD END OF STORY

2002- all this crap happens with McCreary catching him in the showers raping a 10 year old boy-  The ONLY thing Paterno does is tell the AD who he has more power than anyway-

Child protection services could have been notified without fear of lawsuits- how can you defend him?

They could have limited him to going where only other non-faculty members could go

And when he retired, they had Sandusky by the balls- He wasn't fired- he agreed to retire- at this time they didn't have to give him elite status on campus- they could have wiped their hands clean of him-

Sandusky and anyone else involved in this disturbing sick putrid shit needs to be beaten to a bloody pulp and then killed by firing squad.......

The Department Of Children and Youth Services local and state records were subpeoned by the Grand Jury. University police records were also subpeoned. The records reveal that the 2002 incident was never reported to any officials, in contravention of Pennsylvania law.

All of them- not just picking on Paterno but everyone involved needs to be punished

Nobody ever saw MJ actually rape a child. He was also acquitted.

well Joe aint getting fired people, he is retiring at the end of the year and will be coaching the last 3 games.

joe tells sandusky he's fired, sandusky and his attorneys say on what grounds?  joe says i suspect your a child molester and i wont stand for that on this program, negative attention i dont want to be associated with.  sandusky and his lawyers say fine go that route, we were investigated by the police and found nothing.  thats defamation of character joe and you know it.  we will say he resigned admirably, but we want access to the facilities and we will draft up a proposal that allows our client/sandusky to still have use of the facilities.  penn state and joe hands tied because the police did not arrest him, reluctantly agree.

i am willing to bet something of that nature went down there.

Why hasn't the U President, Spanier been arrested? All this chain of command shit ended with HIM, and he DID NOT REPORT the 2002 incident to the authorities, which IS A CRIME!

It sounds like this has been a Happy Valley dirty little secret for many years now. And the motive is obvious. Sweep it all under the rug to protect the university, its executives and an iconic coach. I suspect we will see many other allegations made and other victims stepping forward. How Paterno can look himself in the mirror for "looking the other way"......I'm sorry I cannot understand.....How much more shameful can it get? Probably when Paterno takes the field on Saturday and 80,000 fans cheer for him as the victims and their families watch in horror......

Joe Paterno put protecting the good name (no longer) of his program ahead of protecting young boys that his friend was sodomizing and forcing to perform oral sex on him.

Jersey...you are showing your ignorance here, this has so much more to do about football.  The football side is irrelevant, we are talking about 10 year old boys and Joe/McCquerry could of saved at least 1 victim for sure and who knows how many others.  If you doubt me, read the indictment yourself and follow the dates, Victim 1 was after 2002 when it was all brought to Joe's attention.  Joe failed your school miserably by not doing the right thing morally.  Read the entire indictment then tell me he had no responsiblilty, thats all I ask.
