It sounds like this has been a Happy Valley dirty little secret for many years now. And the motive is obvious. Sweep it all under the rug to protect the university, its executives and an iconic coach. I suspect we will see many other allegations made and other victims stepping forward. How Paterno can look himself in the mirror for "looking the other way"......I'm sorry I cannot understand.....How much more shameful can it get? Probably when Paterno takes the field on Saturday and 80,000 fans cheer for him as the victims and their families watch in horror......

    probably closer to 110,000.......

Why does Mike McQueary still have a job?  Penn State Wide Receivers coach?  He should be fired immediately for failure to report a rape in progress.  He should of called 911 AFTER he stopped the pig Sundasky.

joe fired him when the cops didnt even arrest the guy in 1998.  joe told the AD in 2002, he did do something though it may not be up to par with some standards of everyones morals.  the guy wasnt working for joe anymore and it was hearsay from that point as joe did not eye witness the account in the shower.

    that is what we know.

Cburk...have you read any of my other posts?

    I've read the indictment.

Yes, I agree, Joe should have done more.

But to say he did NOTHING is absolutely false. And the thing that annoys me the most...is retards like LawsonJames are making Joe Paterno out to be the actual rapist.

The focus should be on Jerry Sandusky. He is the child rapist who will be going to hell. Tim Curley, who was one of the best athletic director's in the United States, also failed miserably. When Paterno told him what he heard, it was Curley's responsibility to go to the authorities immediately.

And to be honest, I am quite surprised people aren't making a bigger deal out of Graham Spanier's role in this scandal. People can talk all they want about how "Joe Pa is the boss at PSU." Umm...completely false. He is a legend and 95% of the things on campus are named after him. But Graham Spanier is the boss of PSU. He makes the decisions. He is the one in charge. He should take the most blame for this besides for Sandusky.

And people want to try to pin everything on Joe Paterno?

    Give me a fucking break.

I dont know if any of you know this but 3 things here make it very hard for Joe or anyone of non-legal authority to do much more.

    1.  Sandusky was not convicted of a crime, just suspected and that was enough in 1998 for Joe to fire him, but the police do nothing even after a mother of a victim states that Sandusky admitted this behavior.

    2. Lawsuits, you have to be careful how let someone go nowadays.  Joe couldnt say he was letting Sandusky go because he was a child molester because that is defamation of character and Paterno can lose his job, the university can be sued by this clown etc etc.  Again, Joe fired him on suspicion, the cops let him go in spite of it.

    3. IF someone is not convicted of a crime by POLICE, like Sandusky was not at the time, you cant just tell someone you cant step foot on campus.  That is illegal.  The University of Michigan cannot tell me i cant go walk around their campus because i was investigated by police for child molestation but never charged.  We dont live in China.

Joe did do something, in fact at least two things we know of.  Fired Sandusky in 1998 after first catching wind of this and after investigators found nothing to charge the creep with.  Then, in 2002, he told the AD what he had heard, not saw with his own eyes, second hand from McQueary.  Blame McQueary all you want, blame the AD and the other guy, BLAME the Cops, BLAME Sandusky, BLAME the negligent high school teacher who saw Sandusky numerous times on a wrestling mat late night with these kids, BLAME Sanduskys wife for not having a fuckn clue.  After all those people are blamed, blame the president of university.  Then, maybe after Joe talks, you can blame him.  But let him speak to what happened.  He did do things, we know that.  The media has made him out to be a monster and turned attention away from the child molester.  Let the man speak and than crucify Joe if you like once we all get the facts.
All true but up to two weeks ago Sandusky was still seen working out at the University gym... Unreal...

I dont know if any of you know this but 3 things here make it very hard for Joe or anyone of non-legal authority to do much more.

Agreed, the President has to be removed asap, and Sandusky should be the focus, but that doesn't relieve the others, especially Joe of his moral obligations.  If it was you has the coach, would you not of put an end to it immediately, no matter what the consequences?  He didn't, and Sanduscky continued to rape little boys, the latest one was the worst and it happened after 2002.

I don't care where anyone went to school or who they are a fan of, there is no way you can defend that.

That being said, the players do not deserve to be punished, but, the program does, it is a fine line to walk and we will just have to wait and see how it all shakes down.  I don't feel they deserve the death penalty, but the deserve to be penalized in some way.

    Jersey-

Finally some sense out of you- Everyone you mentioned should go down and go down hard- I totally agree and i think everyone does. But Joe Paterno should be included. He is part of the coverup. I have always respected Penn St. Seems like they ran a clean program. I don't think the football program itself or the players should be punished at all. I just want those responsible- McCreary, the AD, the President, and Joe Patreno. To keep making him look like he is some poor innocent old man who did what he could is sickening. He knew he could have done more but chose not to.

To be proud of the football program is one thing i understand but to be blindsided by a Coaching Legend who made a horrible choice to not do more is wrong-

That's my opinion and you have yours-

And yes Sandusky is scum and even if they keep him away from the general prison population, someone will usually find a way to get to him-

Joe Washington.....your comment is about as childish as your education.  Lets group all Penn State fans as pedophiles because we support our great university and our innocent football players who represent us.

enough said...Joe admits that he should have done more, admitting guilt and that it has been on his conscious, how many victims could have been saved if the right people would have stepped up to the plate?

Paterno has enabled this Penn State fudge-packer for 10 years and thus he and others are as culpable as the Penn State fudge-packer himself.

No kidding. It's obvious Paterno knew about his assistant/friend and his pedophilia. McQueary sees it firsthand and then sees the guy around campus for years and with other kids? I have to think there are more diddlers around there than just Sandusky. Ray Gricar; the DA investigating disappears along with his laptop? There is more to this story for sure.

Points are being made for all sides, but its pretty clear that the university, its top executes, including JoePa, were well aware of this long before 2002. This has been covered up for over 15 years. Bottom line is that its really sad that our society has come to this point. Where all that is important is money and protecting a brand. These cover ups happen in all aspects of business. Wealthy men do whatever it takes to protect their power and wealth. Its really sad. God bless these kids and there families. Who really knows how far the cover up goes. Police, mayors, city officals, governors, state officals all made money off the university. If this goes down the right way there will be hundreds of powerfully people exposed. And what about that foundation. Just really heart breaking and hopefully this will be big enough a story to change things but i highly doubt it.

just stop already, the old man already said he should of done more,  You know why he didn't do more? Cause the old man is a coward, it was more important to continue coaching than speak up and prevent lives being destroyed

it was a supremely selfish act that will forever tarnish his legacy, its a god damn shame,  this is the reality to anybody not emotionally attached to the man or the university, you can type paragraph after paragraph avoiding the reality of the situation, but in the end this is the god damn truth, no matter how bad we wish it wasn't....

He cares more about coaching and losing the next 3 games than removing himself from the spotlight and helping the university, he has no instruction role, no game planning role, no scouting role on the team, he is nothing more than a symbol that once stood for integrity and honesty and that symbolism is now gone forever...

The man needs to ride off into the sunset and stop being the selfish old man that he is..."I should of done more"  his own words,  but still too selfish to do the right thing for the university and its victims and step down....
