My losing numbers would like to identify as winning numbers. Please respect their decision.
After 7 weeks, here is where the model stands:
Total: 192-187 (50.6%) Not terrible, week 7 took a step back from the pursuit of 52%.
All Qualifiers: 46-56 (44.2%) Hilariously terrible when you think about "The whole point is for this to be where the value is."
The model has to feel a lot like Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian right now. All the parts to be successful are there; it can't find a way to create success with those parts. Maybe I should find a model coordinator. Will evaluate everything this week, and that includes the qualifier position.
Will toss out some thoughts during the week along with the Qualifiers for the people smart enough to fade. This week I'm gonna pass out the Flucky Brain Bets, which is where I trust my eyes over the numbers' suggestions.

I still have yet to see an opinion that actually gives merit to the expansion to thew 24 team playoff. The watering down of the regular season removes us further from the pursuit of perfection that teams in the BCS and 4 team playoff era had to strive for as the barrier to entry.
Let's not be hyperbolic; this doesn't make upset weekends like we just saw any less exciting or entertaining. However, it undoubtedly makes the games less meaningful, as you have a team like Notre Dame that has guarantees built in which allows them to schedule lightly. At 24 teams, they will only need to achieve 9 wins to be one of the top 24 teams. I think this also further pushes programs to schedule the easiest out of conference they can to bake their floor and ensure the easiest path to 9-10 wins.
