SEC is over rated, the qb's suck. the running backs are big bulky wannabe thug heisman runnerups compaired to collegiate QB's. Who's smarter the QB or the running back, Don't answer that question cause we know the answer. Merrit should not be a factor for National championship rankings, positioning or decisions made by the general public. We all, and I mean all agree that we would love to extend the college season by having play-offs. when that day comes, it'll be a wohole new ball game my friends and the talent will get to realy choose where they want to play instead of having to play.

How in the world can that be over-rated???

When other conferences have maybe 1,2, maybe 3 teams ranked and the SEC has 6 teams ranked in top 25 while playing an SEC schedule! That is why the SEC dominates in football and win Championships year after year!! I personally believe that there should be a playoff system, but it will take like 2 years before people start complaining about the SEC teams winding up playing each other for National Championship! Bottom line the championship will always have to go through the SEC!

Thanks goodness this D-1A (FBS) road to the title model is not prevalent in any other sports or even other college football divisions. Butler would never make it to the hoops finals. St Louis would never win the world series with the worst record of all playoff teams. When you put SEC teams in a position to get to that championship game all the time, can't blame them for taking advantage of it. But those chances are not always deserved.

It's funny that LSU couldn't score a TD against Alabama's defense but that bottom feeder MAC team we know as Kent State actually did score a TD against Alabama in the 3rd qtr.

You want facts to back up what I say is the perception that the all other conferences are the SEC's b*tches? Thru last season Pac 10 has won 12 of the last 21 matchup vs SEC in head to head since 2000. But the so call perception and bias is what puts the SEC in a position to get to the title game most of the time and to their credit, they've won those title games. e.g Alabama loses to LSU and only drops two slots and is still ahead of Oregon. By season's end, Oregon would have played FIVE teams in the Top 25. But since they didn't beat up on big bad Vandy, Ole Miss, Tenn, Florida or Miss St then we must put Alabama ahead.

It's comical how folks are making Alabama's loss out to trump Oregon's loss. Both lost to LSU. Oregon dropped to rank 13 and is climbing back up. Had Alabama lost to LSU in that first week they would have dropped from 4th to 6th or 7th not 13th. Say all you want but Alabama should not even be ranked ahead of Oregon after a loss this late. Most SEC homers (and voters that rank teams) don't really watch west coast games.

 exactly, power rankings are skewed and dont add up. It's a flawed system, propably all aboutt he coverage and television dollars. Change the system, you change the mind set. These are the same fools that think cows power wind mills for energy.

Agree on the need for a playoff. That's the only thing that can solve such debates. Again, while I agree that SEC is the top football conference from top to bottom, I disagree about your dominance statement because the top teams in other conferences match up with top teams in the SEC. Click on the link in the previous post see the PAC 10 vs SEC matchups and these are not Oregon vs Vandy or USC vs Ole Miss matchups. SEC just has an easier biased path to the title game and have taken advantage.

I'm actually a WAC homer, grew up and played in the wac. Teams like Boise St should have the opportunity to shine not to be suppressed by SEC homers voters. You never see this in College BAsketball, but if Richmond comes out with a good team and makes it to the final four, then thats the reason why a top recuited player goes to that school, with football it's about television coverage and dollars.player choose to go to that school due to future possibilities of dollars in the NFL. don't give your rebuttle about this, this has been going on for over a decade now. where was Alabama, 10 yrs ago? where was LSU 15 yrs ago? All im hearing are rebuttles from guys who are'nt old enough to know better and have a singual point of view due to their time i the discussion, thats becuase all of the SEC homers think the same. It's breed into them as a fan of college football. the days of yester year when the colorado's and Nebraskas and Ohio St , Usc and washington national championship teams have come and gone, why... television coverage. Bottom line is you can brag about what you want, if you can't score on a defense in Four quarters atleast more than 3 times you suck offensively. Stanford is the only team that can put up a fight vs LSU, and in all honesty should definitely be spotted at #2 if they beat Oregon this week. The BCS is garbage though, so this whole thing is meaningless bullshit.

What i can't figure out is why others are arguing for Oregon when LSU clearly beat them. Those fans sound like the Bama fans.

Hell when LSU loses i give props to the other team. I don't cry and complain about how they lost.

Just can't understand all the SEC hate. If some other conferences won 5 BCS championships in a row then the media would say how great they are as well.

How can you say the SEC has an easier path to the title game? If anything they have had it harder than any Pac 10 team because they had to play one more game becasue of the conferance championship game.

Blowoutgm, thread was because when the BCS standings came out I was surprised to still see Alabama ahead of an undefeated Stanford. By placing them 3rd, it puts them and SEC in yet another easier path to the title game than placing them behind Stanford let alone Boise, Oklahoma or Oregon.Regarding Oregon, they lost to LSU. Alabama lost to LSU. Oregon also plays a schedule that will feature 5 top 25 teams. Rank Alabama rightfully behind Oregon for their late season loss. And with regards to the defensive effort in the LSU/Alabama game, we've learned that all the defense in the world doesn't help if you still can't score.

I am NOT an SEC hater. I love sports. College and pro. I live in Sacramento (go Kings ... but not to Anaheim) so I obviously get to see more Pac 12 games in person (mostly Cal about 90 mins away) but watch different games on Sat. I watched the Alabama/LSU game on TV. I will be in LA to attend the USC/Washington game this Sat on my way back from attending the Raiders/Chargers game in San Diego this Thursday. I did say I love sports.

I've repeatedly said I believe SEC is the best football conference but have also said top 2 or 3 Pac 12 teams are typically just as good as top 2 or 3 SEC teams. SEC being dominant than every other conference is more perception than reality. The SEC/PAC 10 link shows it. I have not said anything about LSU being the top dog. That's without a doubt. I just think how they unceremoniously rank teams always favor SEC. Regardless. And it's more perception than reality.

My conference is better than your conference.

Typically the Pac 10 has been a conferance where offenses are prevalent and defenses aren't that good.

It's just weird because the SEC sucks in basketball for the most part but i don't read tons of threads knocking the dominance of the ACC or Big East in basketball- those guys get the benefit of the doubt in the rankings just like the SEC teams do in football- that is the nature of the beast- Those that win the most get preferential treatment- Is it fair? No but as long as humans are involved then nothing will ever be totally objective

I really hope Stanford beats Oregon and leapfrogs Alabama then they win out and play LSU for the NC (if LSU wins out)

To me that is the best matchup- Oklahoma St. while very dynamic on offense, just does not play defense.

And in my opinion- defense wins championships

The SEC has 7 BCS Championships with 5 different teams.

The Pac 10/Pac 12 doesn’t even have one.
