*** Getting Ready for the Tournament ***

Some of you may know me from the CFB forum. But I am very much involved in college basketball. I just never take the time to put forth the effort to posting in this forum. So this upcoming tournament I will.

This time of the year I crank things up a notch and would like to give a small sample of what I believe could be beneficial. Now I believe after watching basketball this season, I think that there is only about 10 teams Who Can The Championship. In NO order.



Indiana
Gonzaga  
Michigan
Florida
Miami
Michigan st
Kansas
Louisville
Ohio st
Butler

What do all these teams have in common?

They all either have....

  1. Great coaching
  2. "Been there before"
  3. Great Guard play

What most people I believe misunderstand about picking a team that can win the tournament, miss this one very important thing. Can they win 6 games? I know that sounds stupid but it's true! Can a team win 6 games? I believe any of these teams can possibly do that. Good basketball teams can make a run and win 3 or 4 games on seeding or a single player gets hot, but can they do it for 6 games?

I personally believe that in the NCAA tournament coaching is the biggest factor. And there again, I think none of you can point at any of these teams and say, hey, this guy is just clueless.


When Conference Tournament play starts, I will start posting some plays.... Hope some of this was helpful and I look forward to some good conversation.

Welcome back to posting boom boom.  Hope to see you around in August.

I disagree with Butler.  They are a vastly overrated team.  This years team is nothing close to the previous teams that made a run in the tourney.

I dont know man... Butler is a very experienced group who proves that they belong.

They really remind me alot of " Boise st " in football.... they just keep showing up and the just keep beating the naysayers.

Ohio State and Butler with no chance... I don't like MSU or Michigan either... Gotta get Georgetown on that list

Gotta agree with dimedime. Butler is a good squad with a great coach. However, they no longer sneak up on people and I dont think they can win 6 games against solid foes (predicting a 4,5 or 6 seed) not in their own conference.

I dont like Ohio St either and Craft is an offensive liability and their offense is very unpredictable.

I like what UNC has done. Put the best players on the floor regardless of size and let them play ball. I have put a small wager on them at +5000 already and may add more. A sweet 16 apprearance should guarnatee me some money....

ya butler would need the stars to align in matchups. a team like wisconsin they took to the wire but they get a team like vcu they have no chance imo. that was no accident they dont have a ball handler to handle the athletic press

I thought you said you would be banned for good after that debacle for your ACC teams against the big boys....?  Man of your word?  Or just man of many words...

We just have to agree to disagree on the butler deal... Butler is like my Boise.... and you know how I feel about the Boise st program

But I think Ohio st has some good things going for them heading in the tournament. For one, craft IMO is the best " on ball defender in the nation" This guy can take a guy out of the game.

UNC, totally disagree. Is the talent there? Of course...it's UNC. But IMO Roy Williams is moron for a HC. The guy is consistently proving he is lost. Yeah UNC will win games on talent alone..... but not 6

But yet they beat arguably the best lineup in college basketball... Indiana  It's coaching man. None thought they could do it back to back years but they did.... and your right, the stars do need to align. But heck, doesn't the stars need to align for just about every team?

With Kelly back in the lineup you have to put duke in the picture. Also if the zags stays in the west region they could make a run to the final 4 and then anything can happen.

I just cant put Duke in it.

Here is the truth about Duke....and only people here in ACC country can vouch for this. Duke and UNC get " special treatment " from officials and it's always been that way for years. UNC and Duke people dont like to hear that, but it's just fact. What happens when they leave this " Bubble "???? The real world. Real officials making real calls.... Sorry Duke, in the NCAA's you dont get the running charge call like you do here in the ACC. It's just fact Plus Duke doesnt have a guy other than cook that can break a guy down off the bounce. This is a very un athletic team, and it will be proven out.

I have to agree about Duke. The guard play is ok, but their post play is horrendous. Plumlee is garbage and any team that has a decent big man will eat the Doookies up. Yes, Duke just beat Miami...with hca and 35 from Kelly. That wont happen in the tourny.

Just my opinion but Louisville, Kansas, and Indiana are the 3 favs

I think Duke is better with Kelly... but still not an elite basketball team Miami had no chance of winning @Duke... They ( ACC officials ) dont let teams win in that building

We will see about Butler... But I just think this is a good overall basketball team with a above average coach

no denying there better with him. But lets look at it too...

vs lousiville... it was early in the year, So I do give them credit for a good win there.

vs Ohio st and Miami @ HOME... I dont give credit to Duke for winning at home. Why? If you follow ACC basketball you would know why Dont forget they got DESTROYED by Miami on the road.
