Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is about to be released, and prediction markets are getting their say on whether it’ll be the big success story of the summer.

Kalshi has a number of different Odyssey markets live right now, from its Rotten Tomatoes score to the film’s run time. There’s even one entirely focused on whether or not we’ll see a last minute delay.

Over a million dollars has already poured in on the film’s rotten tomatoes market, showing just how confident traders are in the movie’s critical reception, and its potential to sweep the 2027 awards season.

We spoke to celebrity PR specialist Kayley Cornelius to get the inside scoop on whether this could be our next big cultural moment, and what the success of the film might mean for its biggest stars, in particular Robert Pattinson who is “back, bigger and better than ever before.”

Key Takeaways:

  • Critics Expect a Masterpiece: Kalshi’s Rotten Tomatoes market is pricing in near universal acclaim, with the implied probability of a 90%+ score sitting comfortably at 83%.
  • The Runtime is Locked In: The market on the film’s duration has now resolved at a massive two hours and 52 minutes.
  • The Pattinson Surge: The cast is full of huge stars, but the focus is already on Robert Pattinson’s performance and what it could mean for the 2027 Oscars.

Nolan, of course, has an incredible record, so it’s easy to see why prediction market traders are so confident that this film’s going to nothing short of unmissable.

But adapting an epic like this with contemporary touches (like the much talked about US accents and modern dialogue) in a way that really works is no mean feat, and that’s likely why we’ve seen some volatility on the board in the past few days.

Traders who bought 'Yes' on the above 90% bracket early at 30¢ have already had the opportunity to flip and make a profit.

Now, the real battle is happening on the highest brackets (over 93%) where there’s still money to be made if the film really does exceed everyone’s expectations. All eyes are now on the reviews as they begin to trickle in.

PR Expert: Pattinson is Back, Bigger and Better than Ever Before

Much of the talk about the upcoming release of The Odyssey is centered around its star-studded cast, and their chances of success in the most anticipated awards ceremonies of 2027.

We spoke to celebrity PR specialist Kayley Cornelius to find out why Pattinson, rather than Holland or Damon, is best positioned to reap the rewards of this blockbuster moment.

"Robert Pattinson is back, bigger and better than ever before. Arguably, he is in one of the biggest years of his career yet, and The Odyssey could be the project that takes him from respected Hollywood actor to one of the most commercially valuable stars in the world again."

Since his Twilight days, Pattinson has been rebuilding his reputation with some hugely challenging roles in films that have ultimately impressed critics across the board (The Batman, Mickey 17). But his performance in The Odyssey is different, because this time he’s blending that hard-won critical credibility with massive, mainstream global exposure.

A Christopher Nolan epic provides the ideal launchpad for an awards campaign. Combined with his high-profile turn as Batman, Pattinson’s role as the villainous and scheming Antinous could firmly place him in the running for an Oscar as we head into 2027.

“Heading into awards season 2027, we could easily see Rob firmly in the running for an Oscar if his performance in The Odyssey, and further projects this year, connects with critics,” explains Cornelius.

”A Christopher Nolan epic, a major theatrical release and a career-defining role create the perfect platform for an awards campaign, and this could be the year where Hollywood starts viewing him as one of the industry’s elite leading men.”

Experts predict a massive global media fanfare for this movie immediately following release, including partnerships with luxury fashion houses and high-end magazine covers. And that could well mean that The Odyssey has the potential to "reignite the same level of obsession we saw during his Twilight era, but this time with the added credibility of an established Hollywood heavyweight."

“Hollywood is always looking for its next generation of global movie stars, and Robert Pattinson has a rare opportunity to remind audiences why he became one of the most talked-about actors in the world, while proving he can operate at the very top of the industry.”

Three Tips for Trading The Odyssey Prediction Markets

Trading entertainment markets is completely different to putting money on sports or political outcomes. These markets are amongst the most volatile on platforms like Kalshi, because they’re so subjective and therefore incredibly vulnerable to sudden price changes following the publication of reviews and shifts in sentiment on social media.

To get ahead on these markets, you need to know what the public is thinking, and how critics might react to a film, before the rest of the world does. And that means mastering the art of reading shifts in sentiment and acting on them… fast!

  • Watch Review Embargoes: Sudden swings in the Rotten Tomatoes brackets usually occur in the minutes immediately following the lifting of major press embargoes. Position yourself ahead of these drops.
  • Buy the Hype, Sell the News: In movie markets, prices often peak right before the public actually sees the film. Consider locking in profits on "Above 92%" 'Yes' shares if pre-release hype pushes the contracts into the high 70s.
  • Acknowledge the Critic/Audience Divide: Nolan's riskier creative choices, like modern, colloquial dialogue, might alienate traditionalists while simultaneously proving more popular with today’s audiences. Don’t let social media outrage sway your position too much.
