MLB betting odds are on the board and getting attention for Wednesday night’s Game 2 of the World Series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Los Angeles Dodgers got out of the gate quickly and aim to take control against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Multiple oddsmakers provided insights on MLB opening lines and early movement, sharp money and public betting for Wednesday’s Game 2 and updated World Series odds. Covers will update this action report with MLB sharp picks vs. public bets and line movement through game time.

MLB line movement

UPDATE 7:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: After opening at -145, the Dodgers dipped to -130 at The SuperBook at Westgate, but moved back to -135 in the past half hour, with the Rays +125. The total never budged off 8, though the Over opened -120, dropped to -110 this afternoon and is now up to -125.

UPDATE 5:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: The Dodgers opened -152 at FanDuel late Tuesday night, and the initial move was to -156, but Los Angeles is now down to -138, with Tampa Bay +120. The total opened at 8.5 and went to 8 almost immediately, where it's remained all day.

UPDATE 2:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: At BetMGM's New Jersey hub, the Dodgers are at -135 from an opener of -150, with the Rays at +120. The total is stable at 8.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: DraftKings opened the Dodgers -162 overnight, and by just a few minutes ago, that line was down to -137, with the Rays +118. The total is at 8, with no movement off that so far, other than a couple of price adjustments.

---

The Dodgers spread eight runs across the fourth, fifth and sixth innings Tuesday night, ripping the Rays 8-3 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven World Series. For Game 2, The SuperBook at Westgate was among the first out of the gate with odds late Tuesday, opening at Dodgers -145/Rays +135, and there was no early line movement.

The SuperBook opened the total at 8, with the Over at -120. That also had no early movement for Wednesday’s 8:08 p.m. ET first pitch.

MLB sharp money

UPDATE 7:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: "A little more sharp money on the Rays, so we need the Dodgers for a little bit," SuperBook manager/oddsmaker Eric Osterman said of Game 2 action.

MLB public betting

UPDATE 7:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: "We're seeing good two-way action on the game itself," The SuperBook's Osterman said. "We are seeing some big action on the Over from the public. The Under is our biggest need for the night."

UPDATE 5:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Perhaps surprisingly, the Rays are the more popular play at FanDuel, taking 60 percent of bets and 58 percent of money on the Game 2 moneyline. But as is the case at seemingly every sportsbook, Rays moneyline play is being countered by Dodgers -1.5 runline action, which paid out nicely for Game 1 bettors. The Dodgers are currently +150 laying 1.5 runs, and they're attracting tickets and money at a 4/1 rate. Likewise, tickets and money are running 4/1 on the Over.

UPDATE 2:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: It's two-way moneyline play at BetMGM's New Jersey hub, with 56 percent of tickets on the Rays and 53 percent of money on the Dodgers. The total has consensus, with tickets running 3/1 on the Over and money more than 2/1 on the Over. And no surprise, the public loves the Dodgers -1.5 on the runline. Interestingly, Los Angeles is now +155 on the runline, well up from the opener of +130, despite the Dodgers getting a large majority of tickets and money.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: Much like with Tuesday's Game 1, the Rays are the more popular play in early betting at DraftKings. Tampa Bay is taking 58 percent of tickets and 63 percent of handle on the moneyline. However, also mirroring Game 1, the public likes the Dodgers -1.5 on the runline at +150, a market in which ticket count is 3/1 and money 4/1 on Los Angeles. Similarly, on the total, ticket count is 3/1 and money 4/1 on Over 8.

---

Covers Consensus is often indicative of public opinion, and late Tuesday night, there was interest in both teams for Game 2. Still, the lean was toward Los Angeles to take a 2-0 series lead, with the Dodgers attracting 54 percent of early picks.

Odds to win the World Series

UPDATE 7:45 P.M. ET WEDNESDAY: "We took a large bet on the Dodgers series price before Game 1 started," The SuperBook's Osterman said. "Today, it's been mostly all sharp money on the Rays to win the series." Still, the book remains a big fan of the Rays to win it all. Los Angeles is currently -400 to win the series, with Tampa Bay +330.

---

Prior to Game 1, The SuperBook had the Dodgers -210 and the Rays +180 to win the World Series. With Los Angeles now up 1-0, the series price jumped to Dodgers -410/Rays +340. John Murray, executive director of The SuperBook, said pre-series that his shop has a significant rooting interest.

“The Rays are awesome for us,” Murray said. “We’re a small loser to the Dodgers.”
