Tiger-Cats vs Alouettes Prediction, Picks & Odds for Week 10

Best meets worse as the Hamilton Tiger-Cats travel to Montreal to take on the East-leading Alouettes. Given the way both teams enter this one, and the fact that Montreal held Hamilton to just 16 points last time out, our CFL expert believes the Ti-Cats will find it tough to generate offense once again.

Week 10 in the CFL features a pair of rematches from last week including a clash on Saturday night between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes.

Montreal won 33-16 last week and my Tiger-Cats vs. Alouettes predictions for the rematch expect another rough game for Hamilton's offense. Here are my best free CFL picks for this East Division showdown on August 10.

Tiger-Cats vs Alouettes prediction

My best bet
Tiger-Cats team total Under 20.5 (-116 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The Montreal Alouettes held the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to just 5.27 yards per play and 16 points last week. Seven of those points actually came on a defensive touchdown and the Ticats offense was only able to score a single point before the final three minutes of the game when they punched in a TD during garbage time.

Montreal's elite stop unit has spearheaded the Als to a 7-1 start to the year. They've allowed the fewest offensive touchdowns (12) and yards per play (5.59) while holding opposing quarterbacks to a league-low passer rating of 79.4. The Als have been vulnerable on special teams but Hamilton has the second-fewest big play returns in the league.

If the Ticats want to score points on the road in Montreal, they'll need a big game from QB Bo Levi Mitchell. While Mitchell throws for a lot of yards, Hamilton's attack has been crippled by issues with turnovers (15) and offensive penalties.

The Als have forced the second-most turnovers in the CFL (19) and have allowed just three pass completions of 30+ yards so they'll be able to limit Mitchell's downfield looks. Look for the Als to hold the Tabbies below their team total here.

Tiger-Cats vs Alouettes same-game parlay (SGP)

Tiger-Cats team total Under 20.5

Cole Spieker Under 46.5 receiving yards

Shemar Bridges Over 5.5 receptions

Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo is officially listed as available but he also had that designation last week and didn't suit up, so don't expect him to play here. With Fajardo nursing a hamstring injury, young QB Davis Alexander should get another start.

Alexander looked sensational coming on in relief in Week 8 and he settled down after a couple of early turnovers to throw for 262 yards in his first career start last week. However, Alexander likes to spread the ball around which has led to Cole Spieker seeing fewer targets. Spieker had three catches for just 18 yards last week after posting 28 yards on three receptions in Week 8.

Bridges has become Mitchell's favorite receiver and the 6-foot-4, 210-pound target leads the Ticats with 48 catches and 526 yards. He has posted 6+ receptions in six of eight games this year and he hauled in nine of 11 targets last week. Taking the Over 5.5 on his receptions along with the Under on Hamilton's team total creates a nice multiplier for this parlay.
