The Edmonton Elks welcome the Saskatchewan Roughriders to Commonwealth Stadium in CFL action on Saturday night.

Edmonton has covered the spread in six of its last seven games, but my Roughriders vs. Elks predictions are laying the points with the visitors.

Here are my best free CFL picks for this Week 17 clash on September 26.

Roughriders vs Elks prediction

My Roughriders vs Elks pick: Roughriders -4.5 (-110 at BET99)

Don't expect home field to be much of an advantage for the Edmonton Elks. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 5-1 straight up and against the spread on the road this year while going 5-0 SU and ATS in their previous five trips to Edmonton.

The Roughriders are atop the CFL standings with a 10-3 record and are the Grey Cup favorites. They will be heavily motivated after having a bye to stew on their Week 15 loss to the Alouettes.

Expect them to take that frustration out on the 5-9 Edmonton Elks. Edmonton's defense isn't as God- awful as it was at the start of the year, but it's still bad, allowing 28+ points in three of the last four games.

Saskatchewan has a balanced and explosive offense with Trevor Harris at QB and A.J. Ouellette pounding the rock. The Riders are second in the CFL in yards per play (7.11) and should torch an Edmonton defense that has six starters sidelined by injuries.

The Riders have a couple of key injuries in their secondary but Edmonton doesn't have the receivers to take advantage. A weak WR corps and poor pass protection has resulted in quarterback Cody Fajardo settling for shorter passes.

The Riders will have a significant advantage when it comes to generating big plays and that will help them win and cover here.

Roughriders vs Elks same-game parlay (SGP)

Alt Spread Roughriders -2.5

Under 54.5

Fajardo has been highly efficient but has relied on shorter passes to move the chains and control the clock. That conservative play-calling has resulted in the Under cashing in nine of Edmonton's previous 10 contests.

Meanwhile, the Riders lead the CFL in sacks (34) while allowing the second-fewest points per game (23.5). That stingy defense has resulted in the Under going 5-2 in their previous seven games.

Move Saskatchewan's spread below that key number of 3 and play the Under in this SGP.
