The Saskatchewan Roughriders will look to jump out to a 2-0 start for the third consecutive season on Saturday night.

But they'll need to do it against the Calgary Stampeders, a team that's taken five of the last six matchups between them.

My Roughriders vs. Stampeders predictions and free CFL picks go against the grain by picking the road team, who now have the pieces to pick apart a good defense.

Roughriders vs Stampeders prediction

Roughriders vs Stampeders best bet:  Roughriders -1.5 (-105)

The Grey Cup champions would love to beat the one team they never solved last season.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders revamped front seven held up last week and gets another test against Dedrick Mills, whose running kept QB Vernon Adams Jr. balanced in the Calgary Stampeders two wins last year.

Trevor Harris is coming off a 417-yard, three-touchdown performance against BC, and he'll have a healthier supporting cast this time.

Samuel Emilus and Kian Schaffer-Baker, both injured and unavailable in last year's losses to the Calgary Stampeders, are healthy, dynamic, and arguably the CFL's top receiving duo.

I'd lay up to -3 with Saskatchewan.

Covers COVERS INTEL: The Roughriders are looking for a 2-0 start for the third straight season. They are 6-1-0 against the spread in their last seven overall, and will be extra motivated to beat Calgary, the only team that they didn't beat in last year's Grey Cup-winning season.

Roughriders vs Stampeders same-game parlay

With his receivers healthy, Trevor Harris has a higher-octane element to an offense that was middle of the pack in scoring last season (26.2 points per game).

That will matter against Calgary, who have held the Riders to less than 20 points in four of six matchups.

As I'm taking Saskatchewan to cover, it should be noted that the one time they did cover the spread in the last six against the Stamps, they hung a 37-29 win on them.

Calgary likely welcomes that style, as they're built for shootouts. The Stampeders have crossed the Over in seven of its last eight.
