The red-hot Montreal Alouettes head to the nation's capital on Saturday to face the Ottawa Redblacks. These teams faced off on Monday with Montreal cruising to a 30-10 victory, and my Alouettes vs. Redblacks predictions are betting on another strong start for the Als.

Here are my best free CFL picks for this Week 20 clash on October 18.

Alouettes vs Redblacks prediction

My Alouettes vs Redblacks pick: Alouettes -6.5 — 1H (-110 at BET99)

The Montreal Alouettes looked like the best team in the CFL at the start of the season, but a slew of injuries led to them going 2-7 in a nine-game stretch. They've since gotten back most of their injured starters, none more important than quarterback Davis Alexander, and have reeled off four straight wins.

I bet the Ottawa Redblacks at +14.5 on Thanksgiving Monday despite Ottawa shutting down QB Dru Brown for the rest of the year. After all, Dustin Crum is a capable backup, and even though the Redblacks have the worst record in the CFL, they've seldom been blown out.

The Redblacks ended up falling behind early in Montreal and got crushed 30-10. They also lost by 21 points when these teams previously clashed back in Week 2.

That's why it's a bit strange to see a four-point swing on the spread from Week 19, especially with the Redblacks forced to start third-string Tyrie Adams due to an injury to Crum.

The 28-year-old hasn't thrown a regular-season pass since suffering a torn ACL in his CFL debut in 2023. Now, on a short week, he has to prepare for a stingy Montreal defense that generates pressure and covers well in the back end.

Adams will have a tough time getting into a rhythm early which is why I'm backing the Als on the first half spread.

Alouettes vs Redblacks same-game parlay (SGP)

Alouettes -6.5 — 1H

Under 51.5

The Redblacks have played in low-scoring contests with Dru Brown sidelined and the Under has cashed in their last three games. I'm betting on the Als to pull away early but once they have a lead, expect them to play conservatively and lean on their defense just like they did last week.
