Taylor is making her mark as one of the greatest women fighters ever, and a win over an excellent champion in Cameron would only further her credentials.

Boxing odds have Taylor as a -175 favorite. Defending champion Cameron is a minor +140 underdog.

Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor betting preview

Katie Taylor was initially supposed to rematch Amanda Serrano after defeating her in their legendary 2022 bout, but after Serrano pulled out with a hand injury, she went after Chantelle Cameron. Two-division champion Taylor could have taken an easier assignment. She’s going to need to rely on her excellent boxing skills and championship pedigree to turn back the challenge of a dangerous world champion.

Taylor’s skill is matched by her grit. She fights her way inside and can be a handful when she gets in with her fast hands and excellent defense. When she’s on the outside, Taylor can expertly move herself in and out of danger with her fast hands and footwork. Though she is moving up in weight, Taylor previously held a junior welterweight title in 2019.

Going back to that title-winning effort versus Christina Linardatou, Taylor took a lot of punishment and showed a great chin. The same goes for her brawl against Serrano.

Ultimately, Taylor can be coaxed off her game at times, but she is so tough and durable that she isn’t afraid to mix it up. She’ll find it harder to do that at 36, so relying on intelligence rather than grit is the way to go here.

Cameron is coming into hostile territory against an all-time great. She’s been competing at a championship level for the better part of the last four years, ultimately becoming the undisputed champion at the weight class last year after defeating Jessica McCaskill by decision. Youth, reach, power, and size are all on Cameron’s side.

If the smaller Serrano could overpower Taylor early in their fight, Cameron can as well. She also has to worry about not losing herself to the heat of the moment, because as good as Cameron is, falling behind a tactically sound fighter like Taylor is a sure way to lose a title.

If Cameron can bully Taylor, she has to be able to limit her movement for the whole fight. It may be exhausting, but Taylor’s underrated toughness means mindless pressure won’t work. She needs to be first, attack the older fighter’s body, and force Taylor to fight her off in every clinch.

Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor boxing prediction and best bet

Prediction: Taylor moneyline

The odds indicate how tough of a fight this might end up becoming. Taylor wilted early against Serrano but rallied in the second half to narrowly edge her on the scorecards. Time isn’t on Taylor’s side, and she’s taking a risk moving up in weight against a younger opponent minus the wear and tear.

Still, Taylor should be energized by her home crowd and have enough left in the tank to pull this off. Provided she doesn’t get into frequent long-range exchanges with Cameron and outworks her when they’re in close quarters, she can get this done.

It will be close, but Taylor is our pick.

Prediction: Taylor moneyline (-175 at DraftKings)

Best Bet: Taylor by decision

I don’t see Taylor outclassing Cameron. This will be a close fight that will be up for grabs heading into the later rounds. Taylor knows how to dig deep and has immeasurable willpower, so a late surge should be enough to secure a close, and possibly controversial decision.

Taylor isn’t a knockout artist, and Cameron similarly relies on volume rather than one-punch power. We’ll see this fight go the distance, and we’re picking Taylor to get the win on the cards at -130 as our best bet.

Prediction: Taylor by decision (-130 at DraftKings)
