Atlanta looks to shake off last night's extra-inning defeat when the Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game two on Saturday.
Bryce Elder will look to remain unbeaten in his third start for the Braves, while the Dodgers turn to the dominant Tyler Glasnow for the series win.
Our Braves vs. Dodgers predictions explain why looking to Friday night’s hero is a great path to profit in our MLB picks for May 4.

My analysis
The walk-off bloop single for Andy Pages on Friday night capped a four-hit game for the Los Angeles Dodgers rookie, and he’s showing everyone why he was one of the top prospects coming into this season.
Pages started a bit slowly, but he’s caught fire over the past 10 days. He’s riding a nine-game hit streak and has registered multiple hits in four of those contests. He’s also recorded multiple total bases in four of his last five games, with six runs driven in during that span.
After striking out nine times in his first 18 at-bats, Pages has whiffed just three times in his last 29 ABs. Saturday will see him go up against Atlanta Braves right-hander Bryce Elder, who isn’t registering many strikeouts to begin 2024.
Elder’s rocking a 1.50 ERA through his first two starts, but he’s been exceptionally lucky. His xERA is north of 4.20 and he sits in the 7th percentile in hard-hit rate, 3rd percentile in strike rate, and 5th percentile in FB velocity.
Through his first 42 plate appearances against RHP, Pages is hitting .342 with four doubles and a pair of home runs. He’s slugging .605 vs RHP, more than 100 points higher than his mark vs LHP.
The Dodgers are one of the top lineups in baseball, and I anticipate them getting to Elder early and often. That’s going to mean men on base for Pages, and I expect him to deliver once again.
DraftKings is offering +165 for Pages to get 2+ total bases against the Braves, a number that is priced at +140 at other books. I’m not passing up that kind of value.
Braves vs Dodgers same-game parlay (SGP)
Tyler Glasnow boasts a .151 BAA in 53 AB vs. current Braves, striking out 20 and allowing just eight hits. Marcell Ozuna has three of those hits, but he’s currently mired in a slump at the dish.
Atlanta’s entire lineup has been slumping over the past week, and the Braves couldn’t do much against Gavin Stone last night. Stone had one of his best starts of the season Friday night, holding the Braves to just five hits and a run while striking out five.
Glasnow should top that, and his offense will put up runs against Elder. Look for the Dodgers to lead after five, and for Glasnow to walk out with another victory.
