Mobile sports betting in the Empire State has already generated over $263 million in tax dollars for New York, Governor Kathy Hochul says.
Numbers released by the American Gaming Association on Wednesday showed commercial sports betting in the U.S. set an all-time quarterly record with a handle of $26.34 billion for the three months ended March 31.
The multi-year partnership announced on Monday expands on a previous relationship between the sportsbook and MLB club and ensures that FanDuel will remain affiliated with the franchise for the foreseeable future.
March was a significant sports betting month for Indiana thanks in large part to the NCAA basketball tournament, which helped drive a healthy amount of hoops-related wagering.
The latest news out of Illinois comes on the heels of the change made by the state as of March 5, which now means that bettors no longer have to register in person for an online betting account at one of the sportsbooks’ casino partners.
