The battle for the top spot in Group C runs through Miami today. Brazil hasn't quite looked like a juggernaut yet, but the brutal South Florida heat is a massive equalizer against a rugged Scotland squad.
My top Brazil vs. Scotland predictions is backing the heavy favorites to weaponize the elements and cover the number.
But my top World Cup picks for Wednesday, June 24 are calling for the Under to cash.
Don't miss kickoff at 6 p.m. ET on FOX.
Who will win Brazil vs Scotland: Brazil -1.5 (+105)
Brazil have slowly gone up through the gears in this World Cup. They were very poor against Morocco but Carlo Ancelotti made some changes ahead of the Haiti game, and they looked far better.
The introduction of Matheus Cunha gave Brazil more movement up front than they had with Igor Thiago. We’ll also see Rayan come in for Raphinha on the flank, and the young Brazilian can really add to the attack with his speed. On the other flank, Vinicius Junior has been their player of the tournament so far and can break Scottish hearts with his elite speed.
Temperatures in Miami could be the 12th man for Brazil here, giving them an edge over a Scottish team that is not familiar with playing in 85-degree weather. That temperature will sap the energy from them and make the fullbacks, Nathan Patterson and the aging Andy Robertson, more susceptible to the pace of Brazil’s wide player.
That means one-on-one matchups and crosses when they hit the byline with Cunha, and the late runs of Lucas Paqueta, becoming dangerous goal threats. With Scotland showing a lack of creativity in attack, with just the one goal in two games, we should see Brazil cover the spread here.

TOp pick
Brazil vs Scotland Over/Under pick: Under 2.5 (-103)
It might seem counterintuitive to take the Under when I’m backing Brazil -1.5, but it gives us some insurance to back this also, and crucially, I feel like 2-0 is the most likely scoreline here.
We’ve spoken about the attacking players on the Brazilian roster and how threatening they can be with their speed, but they haven’t had double-digit shots in either game yet. Against Morocco, they looked toothless, but even against Haiti, a team far below them in quality, they only had nine shots and really lacked a creative spark in midfield, something that will likely stop them from going all the way this summer.
Then there’s Scotland. Manager Steve Clarke seems dead set against starting Lawrence Shankland, which is a shame because he’s a legitimate goal threat. Without him, there’s a serious lack of a striker with expert finishing, and the team relies upon moments of magic from Scott McTominay too much. That said, they’re hard work and will be playing for a draw here and to keep the goal difference down, to increase their chances of being in the next round, so expect another brave performance, even if they’re not hugely threatening.
Brazil vs Scotland goal scorer pick: Vinicius Junior (+135)
It’s been a goal per game for Vinicius Junior so far, and with his electric pace, he’s very hard to defend. That’s going to be doubly hard for Scotland in the Miami heat, so expect his battle with Nathan Patterson to be crucial. He led the team in shots in the win over Haiti and often starts on the left flank, using his speed to get inside his fullback and get into shooting positions. The change to Cunha as Brazil’s central striker has also aided him, with Cunha’s movement creating bigger pockets of space for Vinicius to run into. He’s had four shots with three on target and two goals across the two games so far.
