The WNBA's nightcap features a Western Conference clash between the Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle Storm at Climate Pledge Arena.
These two teams are trending in opposite directions, as the Storm sit near the top of the standings, while the struggling Sparks are just above the last-place Wings.
Seattle is clearly the stronger side on paper, and I’ll break down why in my Sparks vs. Storm predictions.

Sparks vs Storm predictions
My Sparks vs Storm best bet: Storm -5 (-112 at FanDuel)
The Seattle Storm have comfortably taken care of the Los Angeles Sparks in recent matchups and torched this squad by 31 earlier this season in Kelsey Plum's absence as she nursed a lower leg injury.
The Storm dominated with elite defense, and that can carry them through round two of this pairing, even with Plum back in the fold.
Seattle’s scoring defense is second to only the league-leading Minnesota Lynx so far this season and home-court advantage will make staying in the hunt challenging for the opposing team to stay in the hunt.
The Sparks have improved over time since getting off to a poor start in 2025 and even rattled off a road win against the New York Liberty on July 26.
However, their inability to generate stops will hurt them in this matchup.
Only the Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky give up more points per game than Los Angeles. That won’t cut it in enemy territory against a defensive juggernaut.
Cameron Brink’s return from injury will help the underdogs, but she isn’t playing enough right now to make a significant impact on defense.
Sparks vs Storm same-game parlay (SGP)
I expect Seattle to cover and prevent a barn burner by swarming Los Angeles on defense.
The Storm will lock in on Plum as the Sparks’ primary initiator, and she’ll be forced to defer and find open teammates.
Plum’s playmaking is on the rise, and she’s tallied at least six assists in four straight contests.
