Dearica Hamby is fresh off a double-double against the Liberty and will be asked to do a ton against Chicago tonight. She highlights our best WNBA prop picks for August 17.

With three games on the Saturday schedule, the WNBA is heating up again after a month-long break — and all eyes will be on Michelob Ultra Arena today for the heavyweight clash between the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty.

That’s the marquee matchup, but don’t sleep on the Chicago Sky-Los Angeles Sparks battle as another game that could go right to the wire. Here are my top WNBA picks for the August 17 slate.

Today's best WNBA player props bets

Prop bet #1: Sabrina Ionescu Over 19.5 points

-110 at bet365

As part of the Team USA roster that won gold in Paris, there was no chance that Sabrina Ionescu would come back rusty when the WNBA season resumed this week. Sure enough, she poured in 18 points in just 23 minutes as the New York Liberty breezed past the Sparks on Thursday.

That was just a continuation of the red-hot shooting we saw from Ionescu before the break. Sabrina scored 21+ points in five straight games before the Olympics, including a 30-point outing against a strong Connecticut defense.

It was Ionescu’s playmaking — 12 assists — that stood out in the last showdown with the Aces back in mid-June, but I’m predicting a flurry of 3-pointers this afternoon as New York tries to pad its 22-4 record.

With Ionescu averaging 19.8 ppg in 2024 and knocking down triples at a 36% clip, the volume should be there for a starring role in the Liberty offense. With A’ja Wilson focused on the Breanna Stewart assignment, Sabrina should have some joy driving for layups as well as her steady diet of 3-pointers. The Over on a line of 19.5 feels like a value pick.

Prop bet #2: A'ja Wilson Over 10.5 rebounds

+105 at bet365

A lot is resting on A’ja Wilson’s shoulders in today’s frontcourt showdown against Jonquel Jones and Breanna Stewart. That’s going to be a critical battleground, and it’s a good opportunity to check out the Wilson rebounding prop.

I like the Over considering she’s averaging 12 rpg in 2024 and was a monster on the glass in July, with 17 rpg in her last four outings before the Olympics.

The Las Vegas Aces should be fresh — they haven’t played yet this week — and motivated by a loss to the Liberty earlier this season. That bodes well for a big Wilson performance.

In what should be a high-scoring, up-tempo game, I see Wilson putting in work on the glass and ending up with at least 11 boards.

Prop bet #3: Dearica Hamby Over 28.5 points + rebounds

-115 at bet365

There wasn’t much to take away from the Los Angeles Sparks’ no-show against the Liberty earlier this week. The 103-69 scoreline said it all. However, it did underline Dearica Hamby’s stellar production. Even in that blowout, she finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

That makes the Over on this points + rebounds prop especially tempting. She’s averaging 35 mpg and is being asked to do just about everything on the court for an L.A. team that should come out with more urgency today.

As one of this year’s breakout stars, Hamby can put a big dent in this total as a scorer alone. She had 25+ points three times in July and the Sparks will need her to be aggressive against the Sky’s imposing frontcourt.

I see Hamby pulling down double-digit rebounds — she’s averaging 10.1 per game this season — and cruising to the Over on the 28.5 points + rebounds line.
