Fever vs Aces Predictions, Picks, Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Las Vegas is the defending champion but hasn't been able to figure out things defensively in 2024. Our WNBA picks expect the Fever to exploit that and keep this game closer than the spread suggests.

The Indiana Fever will look to build on their first win of the Caitlin Clark era when they head to Sin City to play the Las Vegas Aces tonight.

Indiana is in for a tough night, but my Fever vs. Aces prediction expects the visitors to cover this monster spread. Find out why in my WNBA picks for this May 25 tilt.

Fever vs Aces predictions

My best bet
Fever +16 (-106 at FanDuel)

My analysis
There’s no doubt the Indiana Fever are facing an almost unwinnable matchup tonight. The Fever haven’t beaten the Las Vegas Aces outright since 2019 and are 1-19 overall in the last 20 meetings.

While Clark has helped give Indiana a spark on offense — team-high 16.7 points per game — she hasn’t done much to shore up the worst defense in the league. The Fever have a defensive rating of 109.5, far worse than the second-worst team, which just happens to be the Aces (103.6).

The Fever are also on the second night of a back-to-back and are playing on the road tonight. Yet despite all of those factors, it’s still hard to believe how big the spread is for this game.

For one, the Aces haven’t shown the ability to blow out teams yet this season. Both of their wins have come by single digits, and that’s despite the fact they’ve played all of their games at home.

While A’ja Wilson (24.3 ppg), Jackie Young (22.7 ppg), and Kelsey Plum (21.0 ppg) have powered the Las Vegas offense, the team is struggling defensively and is also lacking depth — with its bench averaging just 6.7 ppg on 25.0% shooting.

The Aces have yet to cover this season, and they haven’t even come all that close in any of their first three games. The Fever were able to cover in all three of their meetings with Las Vegas last year, and with Clark improving the team, Indiana should be able to stick around in this game as well.

Caitlin Clark odds, prop for tonight

My best bet
Caitlin Clark Over 6.5 assists (-130 at FanDuel)

My analysis
Clark has yet to find her shooting consistency as a professional, especially from beyond the arc, and her scoring totals have been up and down as a result. But one thing has been consistent: she’s been able to facilitate the Indiana offense, distributing the ball and getting her teammates involved even on nights when she can’t find her touch.

Clark is averaging 6.2 assists per game so far in her rookie season, but that number doesn’t tell the whole story. She's distributed at least seven assists in three of her last four.

Tonight’s game should see plenty of opportunities for Clark to dish out the ball. As I noted earlier, the Aces have the second-worst defensive rating in the league while playing at one of the fastest paces in the WNBA. Las Vegas has played each of its first three games to a total of 169 or higher and has allowed each of its opponents to score at least 80 points.

With that many points on the board, Clark should get to help plenty of her teammates get in on the scoring. It likely won’t be enough to win tonight, but it should pad the rookie’s stat line. Take the Over on these Caitlin Clark odds.

Fever vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)

Fever +16

Over 174

A'ja Wilson 20+ points

The Fever will manage to keep this one relatively close, but only because both offenses will spend a lot of time going back and forth tonight. I’m taking the Over at 174 points, along with taking Indiana to cover in my same-game parlay.

To round out my SGP, I’ll pick Wilson to hit a modest total of 20+ points. Wilson is averaging 24.3 ppg for the Aces this season and has yet to score less than 21 points in any of her first three games. She’ll keep up that streak against a Fever team that lacks a post presence that can slow her down.
