Mercury vs Lynx Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

Napheesa Collier is back in the Lynx lineup after a brief absence. That will make it even harder for the Mercury to stop Kayla McBride from going Over her point prop tonight, as our WNBA betting picks explain.

The Minnesota Lynx may not be covering spreads (2-5 ATS this season), but they are still taking care of business. This 7-0 start should reach 8-0 tonight against the Phoenix Mercury, especially considering Minnesota beat Phoenix on Friday despite missing superstar Napheesa Collier.

My Mercury vs. Lynx predictions and WNBA picks will double down on the best player from that particular game, even if Collier is back in the lineup on Tuesday, June 3.

Mercury vs Lynx predictions

My Mercury vs Lynx best bet: Kayla McBride Over 15.5 points (+124 at DraftKings)

Kayla McBride poured in 20 points against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, buoyed by going 9-for-9 from the free-throw line. That output might make this bet seem like a no-brainer, but remember Collier was not in the lineup. McBride and Alanna Smith both saw more work, combining to go 12 of 26 from the field for 39 points.

McBride is rarely as inefficient as she was in that game, going just 4-for-11 from the field, though 3-for-7 from deep. In her other two games this season, she has combined to go 10 of 18 from the field, adding 5 of 9 from deep.

That efficiency is why faith should be put into McBride tonight, particularly with Collier back on the court. The Minnesota Lynx leader may win both the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year this season. Averaging 26.3 points on 51.4% shooting will help make that happen.

McBride is at her best when Collier demands the defense’s attention. This is what makes Minnesota something for everyone in the WNBA to fear.

Phoenix may have the second-best defense in the WNBA by rating and the No. 2 defense in opposing 3-point percentage, but much of those successes came with Alyssa Thomas directing the defense. With her being sidelined by a calf injury, the Mercury simply do not have the defenders to match up with the Lynx’s multifaceted offense.

That will give McBride open looks. She may not take the 11 shots she did on Friday, but she should not need to in order to clear this prop for the third time in four games this season.

Mercury vs Lynx same-game parlay (SGP)

Kayla McBride Over 15.5 points

Satou Sabally Over 21.5 points

Lynx moneyline

In two games without Thomas, Satou Sabally has scored 26 and 24 points. The Mercury offense hinges on her right now, severely limited in other options at offensive creation.

As long as Thomas is sidelined, Sabally should produce in volume, though less likely in efficiency.

That kind of mismatch should sum up why the Lynx moneyline is included in this same-game parlay. While Minnesota has at least four offensive weapons — Courtney Williams joining the aforementioned three — Phoenix has just one.

He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
