Memphis Showboats vs Birmingham Stallions

Friday, 8:00 p.m. ET, FOX

Showboats Stallions
+11.5 (-112) Spread -11.5 (-108)
+470 Moneyline -650
Over 37.5 (-110) Total Under 37.5 (-110)

The Memphis Showboats are the lone winless team in the league at 0-4 after falling to the Michigan Panthers 27-9 last week on the road. The Showboats only managed 150 total yards of offense with one turnover. They also struggled mightily on defense and will be without one of their starting linebackers in this game.

Meanwhile, the Birmingham Stallions have won three straight after their opening-week loss. However, it has not been as easy as years past, as they have yet to win by double-digits this season. Last week, they only beat the Houston Roughnecks by six points and allowed 328 yards of total offense while losing the turnover battle.

After losing Alex McGough for the season, the Stallions have now lost Matt Corral for at least this game. They are down to Case Cookus to start this game, who started six games for the Showboats last season.

The Stallions have struggled with their run game this season and are down to a third-string quarterback. I just can’t see them getting a blowout win here, so I will take the points with the Showboats.

Pick: Showboats +11.5 (-112 at DraftKings)

Michigan Panthers vs St. Louis Battlehawks

Saturday, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

 Panthers Battlehawks
-2.5 (-110) Spread +2.5 (-110)
-130 Moneyline +110
Over 37.5 (-110) Total Under 37.5 (-110)

The Panthers remain extremely consistent on the offensive side, as they are now starting to pull away in the USFL conference with the Stallions. They have the highest scoring offense and the second-best total offense. They do it with excellent balance between their pass and run games.

Meanwhile, the St. Louis Battlehawks went from looking like the best team in the league to losing by double-digits in consecutive games to XFL Conference rivals. To make matters worse, they lost quarterback Manny Wilkens for the season and will now rely on Max Duggan. He struggled with a 20.8 quarterback rating and two interceptions last week in a 30-15 loss to the Arlington Renegades.

Even with the poor quarterback play, the Battlehawks still scored 15 points thanks to a strong run game. They have scored the second-most points in the UFL behind these Panthers and neither defense has been stellar this year.

Pick: Over 37.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

D.C. Defenders vs Arlington Renegades

Sunday, 12:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

 Defenders Renegades
+3.5 (-110) Spread -3.5 (-110)
+164 Moneyline -198
Over 39.5 (-110) Total Under 39.5 (-110)

The D.C. Defenders took their first loss of the season last week against a San Antonio Brahmas that got their first win of the season. The Defenders racked up a whopping 409 yards of total offense with no turnovers, but they somehow only scored 18 points. They had three drives of at least 70 yards and only scored nine points from those three drives.

The Renegades boast a strong offense themselves, but they are especially good on the defensive end. They allow only 10.8 points per game, and no team has scored more than 15 points on them. That includes the Stallions and the Battlehawks.

Last year, these two teams were the bottom-dwellers of the XFL Conference, but now they are the top contenders. This game will be massive for playoff implications.

Despite both teams having strong offenses, scoring is an issue for them. I trust these defenses more.

Pick: Under 39.5 (-110 at DraftKings)

Houston Roughnecks vs San Antonio Brahmas

Sunday, 3:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

 Roughnecks Brahmas
+3.5 (-115) Spread -3.5 (-105)
+160 Moneyline -192
Over 38.5 (-110) Total Under 38.5 (-110)

After getting blown out in Week 1, the Roughnecks have turned things around with close games each of the last three weeks. Unfortunately, it has only resulted in one win over the lone winless team in the league. They are quickly falling out of the mix in the USFL Conference and need a victory to keep up.

The Brahmas got a win they desperately needed last week over the top team in their conference, but it wasn’t a pretty one. They finished with only 219 yards of total offense and were outgained by 190 yards. They rank last in both total offense and total defense this season.

The Roughnecks rank seventh in total defense and sixth in total offense, so they are not much better. However, they play teams tough and like to keep the score close throughout. Getting 3.5 points here seems like an overreaction to the Brahmas' score from last week and the expectations they had coming into the season. I will take the points.

Pick: Roughnecks +3.5 (-115 at DraftKings)
