Fight analysis
We’ve got a fascinating featherweight tilt on deck at UFC 324 when Arnold Allen goes toe-to-toe with Jean Silva.
Silva is coming off a knockout loss to Diego Lopes at Noche UFC last September — his first loss in the UFC and first defeat in more than seven years.
The Brazilian himself admitted that he got too emotional in that fight and disregarded his game plan, which led to an exciting fight but also a complete lack of defense on his part.
If we’re trusting Silva to come out with more composure this time around, he should get the job done. “Lord” Silva, who trains with the renowned Fighting Nerds out of Sao Paolo, has a distinct advantage on the feet in terms of skill, power, and overall creativity.
That’s not to take anything away from Allen, who’s fought plenty of elite competition like Max Holloway and Movsar Evloev, but I think Silva is just a step ahead, especially given that Allen hasn’t fought in a year and a half.
Best bet analysis
Despite his recent loss to Lopes, Silva is still regarded as one of the most talented and dangerous fighters in the featherweight division, and rightfully so.
Silva has finished 15 of his 16 professional wins, with 12 coming by knockout and three by submission. In fact, he’s earned a finish in all five of his UFC wins.
Silva by KO is +150, but we’re getting almost the same price for a double chance at KO or sub. A knockout is the more likely outcome, but Silva did pick up a surprise sub win over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, so anything can happen.
