Luke Evangelista is playing top-six minutes and on the top power-play unit for a team that ranks No. 1 in Corsi%. He's a top-three shooter on this team and looked healthy returning from an illness against a great Colorado team, putting up six SOG. In the five games he's been healthy, he has 18 shots and is 4-1 to this Over. This should be priced closer to 48% with 17 minutes of ice time vs. the Ducks. This was a case of combing through his markets to see which ones the oddsmakers adjusted following his increased offensive opportunities. His point prop moved from plus money to 57%, which is closer to fair value, but the SOG market didn't move enough, creating value on the Over in a great matchup.

The Senators will be fresh off an emotional game with Brady Tkachuk's return, and they should be tired after facing Florida's bruising play. San Jose is also only going from Montreal to Ottawa, so it's not the worst travel spot. I'll back the Sharks up to +100.

Dorofeyev is in play to find the back of the net up to 37%. After scoring 72 times with a 14.9% shooting percentage over the past two years, the go-to Russian has only found the back of the net twice with a 5.7 SH% through 11 games. He's generated a team-high 5.35 expected goals on 35 shots and 73 attempts, and he’s clicked with center J.T. Miller for an elite 59.0 CF% and 66.9 xGF% at 5-on-5.

I’m looking to Matthew Schaefer to pot his first of the season.
He scored 23 goals as a rookie and, despite the goose egg, has looked incredibly dangerous.
Schaefer is leading all NHL defensemen in shot attempts, shots on goal, and expected goals. He’s constantly tilting the ice for New York and jumping up to get involved offensively.
Brayden Schenn o1.5 Shots On Goal (-110)
Brayden Schenn is a play for 2+ shots to 54%.
He is averaging nearly one extra shot attempt per game this season, which is a big difference for a player who is often in close proximity to the net.
Schenn has attempted 4+ shots in seven of nine games to date, generating consistent volume. He cleared 1.5 shots in 86% of his games last season when reaching that mark.

Mitch Marner o0.5 Assists (-125)
The Mitch Marner assist price still baffles me. It's currently 55% but should be priced closer to 62%. He has assists in eight of 11 games this season, including seven straight. It's a great play on its own, but the Vegas Golden Knights should also be motivated after their ugliest loss of the season, a 6-2 defeat at home to the Lightning on Tuesday. Adding the Vegas ML boosts this 2.75x.
Tomas Hertl o0.5 Goals Scored (+200)
Tomas Hertl is my top target to score a goal.
The Blues are a strong defensive team but penalties have been somewhat of an Achilles heel, ranking 26th in shorthanded time per game.
Hertl will be the primary benefactor if their penalty troubles continue. He leads the Golden Knights – by far – with 3.1 xG on the power play. He also tops the team in shot attempts and shots on goal.

Jackson Blake has piled up 5.1 expected goals this season but scored just once.
Blake will see a ton of Edmonton’s middle-6, which is bleeding shot volume at 5-on-5.
He’ll also get exposure to Sebastian Aho and the team’s best weapons on the power play.

I’d play Shayne Gostisbehere for 2+ shots to 56%.
He has attempted at least five shots in 10 of 11 games. For reference, he cleared 1.5 shots 76% of the time last season when reaching that benchmark.
He should have his fair share of looks against the Oilers. They rank fourth in limiting slot shots but sit 16th in shot suppression at 5-on-5 and 23rd while killing penalties.

I recommend this prop to 51% because Finnie is centering a sneaky line with Alex DeBrincat and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. The trio have clicked for a rock-solid 6.08 goals per 60 minutes with a 58.8 CF% and 60.1 expected goals percentage at five-on-five, and Finnie has marked the scoresheet in three of his past four games for five total points while averaging 19:10 of ice time per night. This is also a soft matchup. The Canucks have surrendered the most goals per game and expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5.

An NHL moneyline bet is simple: all you need to do is pick a winner. Whether that's in regulation or overtime, they don't ask how, but how many, right?

As with all moneyline odds, the team with the minus sign (-) is the favorite, while the side with the plus sign (+) is the underdog.
Betting $100 on Edmonton at -130 would net you $176 in winnings if they win the game, $76 of profit plus your initial $100 wager. Conversely, if you bet on Florida and they win, you get $210: $110 in profit plus your initial $100 bet.
The puck line is the NHL's version of the spread, where each team is given a certain number of goals to either win or lose by. Unlike the NFL or the NBA, the NHL spread doesn't typically change from 1.5 for each side. The spread is designed to make betting on the favorite more enticing.

The favorite, Edmonton at -1.5, would need to win by at least two goals for the bet to cash. If Edmonton wins by two or more goals, in other words, "covers the bet," you'd get $191 in winnings instead of $176 by taking them on the moneyline.
There are two ways for the underdog, Florida at +1.5, to "cover" a +1.5 puck line bet. They can lose by a single goal or win outright to cash. The odds are shorter, but you have options on this bet.
With a total bet, you're wagering on the total number of goals scored by both teams. You aren't backing any single side to win.

Sportsbooks will set a line for the game. In this case, it's 5.5 goals. Your job is to figure out if Edmonton and Florida will score more or fewer than 5.5 goals, not counting the shootout.
If you see a line that's an even number, like 6.0, those bets can end in a push where your wager is refunded if the game ends at exactly six goals.
