Wilyer Abreu is one of my favorite player prop targets on Sunday night. He enters the matchup with a strong Batters-Box rating and 60% arsenal coverage against Emmet Sheehan. Historically, Abreu has thrived in these spots, going over this prop 57.14% of the time in road games with a strong rating. Sheehan has also struggled against left handed hitters recently, allowing a .513 xSLG and .471 xwOBA over his last 60 left handed batters faced. With Boston's offense continuing to swing the bats well, I expect Abreu to have multiple opportunities to cash this prop. Avoid laying juice on this play.

The Red Sox offense is in a great spot against Emmet Sheehan, who owns poorly rated ISO and ground ball metrics on Batters-Box. Sheehan has struggled recently, posting a 5.17 ERA over his last three starts while allowing plenty of hard contact, including a 44% hard hit rate at home this season. Boston has stayed hot at the plate, producing a 112 wRC+, .178 ISO, and .754 OPS over its last six games. I expect the Red Sox to carry that momentum into this matchup and put early pressure on Sheehan. If the price worsens, I'd rather play an alternate first five team total or his earned runs allowed.

If the Yankees were remotely healthy, I'd lean toward them on the run line with Cam Schlittler toeing the rubber opposite Michael McGreevy. Alas, with Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton all still on the shelf and Jazz Chisholm seemingly not at 100%, I don't expect New York to be the team to punish McGreevy's questionable underlying metrics. I also don't expect this Cardinals offense to suddenly find its groove against arguably the AL's best starter.

Somehow, some way, the Pirates have scored the second-most runs in baseball in 2026. And even with Oneil Cruz and Ryan O'Hearn sidelined, I like the offense to do enough damage against Brandon Sproat to help run up the score. Bubba Chandler has had his moments, but he's routinely allowing 3-5 runs in a start. He's got heat on the fastball, and that's about it. The Brewers can make him pay. With two shaky starters on the bump, I'll go with the Over.

This total is inflated because of Shane Bieber's struggles, most notably his catastrophic most recent outing, where he issued six walks in 2/3 of an inning. That sort of poor command is very unusual. It marked a career high and was only the second time he's walked more than four in an outing. If Bieber makes the start (he could be traded before the 6 p.m. ET deadline), I expect he'll be better. If he doesn't, I have enough faith in the Blue Jays' bullpen to string together a low-scoring night against the Astros. And while Cristian Javier has also struggled, Toronto has shown no life on offense for what seems like months.

Moneyline
This is the most common and easiest wager for a bettor to make when it comes to MLB picks. Basically, to win an MLB moneyline pick, you just have to choose which team will win the game.
It's simple: if you bet the White Sox moneyline over the Red Sox and Chicago wins, you win your bet.
Run line
The run line is another name for a point spread that you may be more familiar with in NBA and NFL betting. A point spread varies in the NFL and NBA from as little as 0.5 points up to double-digit spreads. A baseball run line is almost always a 1.5-point spread.
The favorite will be -1.5 while the underdog will be +1.5. At the end of the game, if you take away 1.5 runs from the favorite or add 1.5 runs to the underdog and they end up winning the game, you win your MLB pick against the spread.
Totals (Over/Under)
Another common wager is to bet on the total in baseball, which is a bet on the total runs scored in the baseball game. You are simply choosing whether the final score will be Over or Under that total. Betting the Over/Under on a matchup is a great way to get started in MLB score predictions.

NRFI/YRFI MLB Picks
A new and emerging MLB betting market is the NRFI/YRFI bet. These are quick-hitters in which you make a wager on the O/U total of the first inning, typically set at 0.5 runs. Thus, the bet is coined as No Run First Inning or Yes Run First Inning. No need to wait a couple of hours to cash a bet when it could be done in 20 minutes or less.
First Five Innings MLB Picks
The above options, moneyline, run line, and Over/Under, can also be placed on the first five innings of a game rather than the full game. Many experienced bettors will use this approach because, typically, this will take bullpens out of the equation and make your job researching the game easier.
