Turkey’s defensive issues continue to surface, and with Romania scoring in nearly every qualifier, the visitors are well set to get on the scoresheet in this playoff clash.

Turkey may carry the bigger names into this matchup, but their defensive record suggests this won’t be as straightforward as the odds imply.

Romania have consistently found ways to get on the scoresheet, even against stronger opposition, which is why my Turkey vs. Romania predictions and free betting picks believe the visitors are well-positioned to make their mark in Istanbul on Thursday, March 26.

Turkey vs Romania picks and predictions

My Turkey vs Romania best bet: Romania team total Over 0.5 goals (-141 at Sports Interaction)

Turkey’s squad boasts elite-level talent from clubs like Real Madrid, Inter, and Juventus, but their defensive performances haven’t matched that pedigree. They’ve conceded in seven of their last eight matches, including a heavy 6-0 home defeat to Spain.

Even lesser sides have found success going forward against them, with both Georgia and Bulgaria managing to score — a worrying trend against teams with far less attacking quality than Romania.

Romania, meanwhile, have scored in seven of their eight qualifying matches, including against group favorites Austria both home and away. Given Turkey’s defensive vulnerabilities, backing Romania to score at least once stands out as the strongest angle.

Turkey vs Romania same-game parlay (SGP)

Valentin Mihaila to score

Over 8.5 corners

Arda Guler 2+ shots on target

Dennis Man 1+ shots on target

Valentin Mihaila plays his club football in Turkey for Rizespor, so this game means a lot. Turkey are expected to control the game, so Romania's best chances should come after corners. And that's where Mihăilă is so important, with his amazing speed. Turkey has fullbacks who love to come forward, and Mihăilă can create from Romania's left side. He scored five goals in 15 games for Rizespor this season, despite not being fully fit until the beginning of 2026.

There should be much aerial activity inside Romania's box, and that can easily lead to corners. Turkey are strong in the air and will look to profit, so I believe they will push to get as many corners as possible.

I will add shots on target from Real Madrid starlet, Arda Guler, arguably Turkey's best player, and Dennis Man, who's Romania's star.
