The Seattle Sounders will hope to pull off a miracle and advance to the FIFA Club World Cup knockout stages when they host Paris Saint-Germain at Lumen Field on Monday afternoon.
The Sounders need a win, lots of goals, and lots of help, but come into this match having lost four straight. PSG were stunned by Botafogo as they rotated their side, and we’ll likely see a fully loaded squad, as a victory will likely see them out of the group in second place.

PSG’s loss to Botafogo was beyond stunning, especially when you consider how they started the tournament. The champions of Europe opened their account after just 19 minutes when Fabian Ruiz buried from distance, and doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time en route to a 4-0 thrashing of Atletico Madrid.
This, of course, followed the demolition of Inter Milan in the Champions League Final. They blitzed the Italian side with two goals inside the opening 20 minutes en route to a 5-0 rout. It was also similar to how they quickly hit Reims in the mouth in the Coupe de France Final a week prior, with two goals inside 19 minutes from Bradley Barcola.
PSG’s defeat also now puts them in a position where they must win to ensure advancement to the knockout stage. A draw does them no good if Atletico Madrid defeats Botafogo, and thus, PSG will be look to put Seattle to the sword early.
If Seattle’s last few matches are anything to go by, that should mean an early goal yet again for the French side. Atletico Madrid needed just 11 minutes to take the lead against the Sounders, days after Botafogo took a lead in the 28th minute.
The Sounders have conceded goals before halftime in three straight matches, and they must secure a victory and receive significant help from Botafogo to advance. Not only that, they'll need to rack up goals to win the head-to-head tiebreaker between them and the two European giants.
Combine PSG’s talent and aggressive attack with a Seattle side that will be forced to take chances early, and you have a perfect scenario for another early goal. As lethal as Atletico Madrid and Botafogo were on the counter, they compare little to what PSG can do on the break.
Look for the pace of Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to punish Seattle on the counter, especially with a PSG midfield that has been utterly unstoppable of late. We'll see PSG on the board before the end of the 28th minute, as I won’t be surprised to see this match well and truly done before the halftime whistle.

Fabian Ruiz loves to let fly from distance. While he doesn’t shoot often, he's typically good for at least one long-range effort per match. Not only has Ruiz put a shot on target from outside the box in three straight starts for club and country, but he’s also found the back of the net from distance in each of his last two starts for PSG.
After a terrific showing in the Champions League Final, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia assisted twice in PSG’s 4-0 win over Atlético Madrid. And while PSG didn’t score against Botafogo, Kvaradona managed five shots and created a chance. He had eight touches inside the penalty area and came close to scoring twice.
The Seattle fullbacks have struggled, and the injury to Kalani Kossa-Rienzi leaves them shorthanded. Alex Roldan will stand little chance against Kvardona, who will get himself involved once more.
