Michael Carrick and Manchester United desperately want to put the opening weekend of the Premier League behind them. To do so, they'll need to avoid another promoted underdog as they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils capitulated 2-0 to Hull City a week ago, and they'll be leery of an Ipswich side that took out Sunderland with a late winner.

Who will win Manchester United vs Ipswich Town: Ipswich Town +1.5
Kalshi probability: 56%
Sunderland gave promoted teams the blueprint last season on how to remain in the Premier League — invest in athleticism and strength. Ipswich Town did just that, as the Tractor Boys spent more than $140 million over the summer.
Seven of those new signings played against that very same Sunderland side a week ago, but it was former Sunderland and established winger Jack Clarke who broke the Black Cats' hearts with a stoppage-time winner.
Ipswich weren't lucky, either. While Sunderland controlled the bulk of play, Ipswich were dangerous on the attack, tripling up their opponents in xG (1.80-0.66) and having more penalty-box touches.
A late injury to Amad Diallo in training and fitness issues for Benjamin Sesko had Carrick running Matheus Cunha as a false-9 against Hull. While they generated 1.83 xG, there were few times where the attack truly felt threatening.
Changes are expected to the attacking lineup, with Bryan Mbeumo likely moving back to the tip of the spear while Marcus Rashford could make his return to the starting XI following a poor performance from Patrick Dorgu.
Those changes will help Manchester United win, but they still remain too vulnerable in defense for me to back them at their probability. I’d rather take Ipswich to cover the 1.5-goal spread at a probability of 56%.
TOP PICK
Manchester United vs Ipswich Town Over/Under pick: Over 2.5
Kalshi probability: 61%
Given my expectations of the flow of this match, it makes complete sense that I’m backing the Over as my top pick.
Manchester United’s back line needs a massive overhaul, and the likes of Harry Maguire looked a step slow against Hull. Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos form a strong partnership in possession, but the Belgian’s lack of mobility got exposed often.
Ipswich led all clubs in the opening weekend with 0.18 xG per shot according to Opta, and their three direct attacks were tied for the most of any club.
That said, Ipswich will be tested defensively. Man United led all clubs with 41 penalty-box touches on Matchday 1, and their 261 successful passes in the final third were 51 more than second-best Arsenal.
With a more centralized scoring threat in Mbeumo, the likes of Tielemans and Bruno Fernandes will be able to create higher-quality scoring chances. And if Benjamin Sesko is fit to go from the start, it makes their attacking threat even more dangerous.
Don’t be afraid of the high probability; it exists for a reason. That said, I wouldn’t go past 62%.
