On Sunday we have Arsenal vs Liverpool, arguably the most anticipated Premier League game in some time. Heading into this weekend, just five points separate third-place Arsenal and Liverpool, who sit at the summit of the Premier League. They’re split by Man City, who play on Monday, and are level on points with Arsenal but have a superior goal difference.
Arsenal have begun to find some form, winning their last two games in the league. That’s begun to curb the slide, with the club winning just two of their six games before that. That saw them fall from the top of the Premier League into the third spot, but they’ll be hopeful of making up ground on Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been on an incredible run. They’ve won their past four in the Premier League, scoring 14 goals and conceding just three. They’ve also managed to do this without star player Mohamed Salah, who went to the African Cup of Nations to represent Egypt. They haven’t skipped a beat without him, and Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, in particular, look incredible right now. So impressive have Liverpool been that we simply have to back them to win this game as our best bet. It’s not often you’re going to be able to get Liverpool at odds of +210, and so we’re going to take it when we can.
Nothing has stopped Liverpool in recent months, despite starting the season relatively slowly. Even with manager Jurgen Klopp announcing he’d leave at the end of the season, it seems to have just spurred them on again.
We’ve seen Arsenal develop under Mikel Arteta, and they’re doing well to be third in the Premier League table, but a closer look at their performances indicates that they’re not the team they were last season. They aren’t as creative and don’t look quite as clutch as they did at times last year.
Liverpool have scored more goals than Arsenal, 51 to 44, and Klopp’s team also have the best defensive record in the Premier League. They also have the highest xG of any team in the Premier League and they simply look unbeatable at the moment, with Arsenal struggling to reach the levels that we know they can play at.

Firstly, we’re going to back Liverpool’s Uruguayan star Darwin Nunez to score. After a tough and often underwhelming start to this Premier League career last year, he’s looking more and more dangerous each week.
He’s scored seven goals in 21 Premier League games, of which 14 were starts, but he’s getting in some dangerous positions and the goals will come. He finished the game against Chelsea with just an assist and a yellow card to his name, but that didn’t tell the whole story as he also missed a penalty and hit the woodwork four times. Goals will come and with his unique blend of size and speed, I think they’ll come on Sunday.
To wrap up our SGP, we’re going to back Alexis Mac Allister to get booked. So far this season he’s played 17 Premier League games, one of which was from the bench, and has been booked five times. That’s roughly one in three, and he’s set for a tough Sunday with the combative Declan Rice in midfield and the likes of Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus using their movement to cause Liverpool issues.

I can’t look beyond Liverpool for this game. It’s covered in detail above but they’re top of the league and playing some incredible soccer right now. They’re managing to keep defensively sound and also creating a lot of opportunities to score.
We’ve not seen Arsenal hit their peak yet this season and I have more confidence in Liverpool winning, which feels like huge value at over 2/1. If you did want to back Arsenal, you can wager on the Gunners winning at +120, which feels far too short for the challenge ahead. The draw at +260 is arguably the best wager after the Liverpool win.
The bookies are expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals coming in at -154 and Under at +125. You can also back Both Teams to Score at -182.
