RPI Chase Picks and Tracking Spreadsheet

First, a big "thank you" is due to DegenGamble for creating the original MLBRPI spreadsheet based on Bettor2win's RPI Chase system.  It served as the inspiration and is the heart of my RPI Chase 2012 Picks and Tracking Spreadsheet.  Additional thanks go to meganbob for his input in the design and functionality of the tracking worksheet.

This spreadsheet was created in Excel 2010.  It has macros and they are safe.  Any sheets that are protected can be unlocked with the password, 'rpi'.  I recommend leaving the protection turned on to keep things running smooth.

This spreadsheet does not contain the pitching data and I have no current plans to add that.

I will provide support and fix any bugs, if found, when time permits.

I hope you find this a useful tool as-is or, using it as a starting point for modifying it to fit your own needs.

One thing I did notice though - I opened both spreadsheets side by side and even though the RPI's for each matchup is correct - the plays that are displayed don't match up.  I see you are filtwering by Win% and games won too, but even with that factored in - it appears that your spreadsheet had less RPI plays.  Are you filtering with any other criteria that i'm missing?

If you change the filters to both be zero (0), you should see all the same plays as your V2 spreadsheet.  Alternately, unhide column 'L' and you will see the plays without any filtering being done as well.

Both methods are agreeing with your spreadsheet (V2 as posted).

Yes, everyone who uses the chase system will thoroughly enjoy this workbook.  Just make sure you save a template so you will have a fresh workbook to use year after year.  Once again, excellent work Canis.  You da man.

Both you guys have done a great job.

One other thing that I would like to see is the Juice for a given game and a betting amount with calc showing the profit or loss from the game.

The goal being to show the hard value of the strategy.

Retract that last statement. You guys have already thought that too.

I want to take a second to point out a couple of things that could end up being common questions.

• Series games that end with an asterisk ' * ' indicate a four game series
• Series games that end with a double asterisk ' ** ' indicate a two game series
• The Streak on the MLB Results worksheet is accurate to the last consecutive result.  (see image)  In this example, the streak will be updated when the other results are entered.
• The Last 10 on the MLB Results page will not update until there are at least 9 results.
• As noted on the MLB Results worksheet, do not delete the last line, it is needed.
• Do not manually insert lines.  Use the Add Ticket button as it runs a macro and copies necessary formulas.
• Inserting new rows or columns may cause unpredictable results.  Exercise caution if you choose to do this.

Spend some time playing around with it.  You'll begin to discover all of the little intricacies within the workbook and specifically the MLB and rpi tabs.  Of course, the NHL and NBA tabs are for merely tracking bets in those sports as well, just a little less intuitively since they are not system-based.  I'm sure as we near the upcoming seasons, NFL, NCAA-F & eventually NCAA-B will be added similar to the NHL & NBA tabs.
The workbook has proven to this point to be a work-in-progress as we are constantly thinking of ways to improve upon it.

Meganbob is referring to the version he and I use.  The linked version above only has the MLB related worksheets as it was meant for B2W rpi chase system.

Will this be able to capture the RPI numbers for everyday of the season so we can do backtesting later on for modifications? Ive tried to capture the RPI but it seems to be a pain in the neck since I'm not an I.T. guy. There has got to be an easy way, I'm sure.

If I understand you correctly, you would like to have the ability to store each days RPI value for each team.  Then when going back via the date button you see the acual RPI value as it was on that date and not just the current RPI.

If this is correct, I will put it on my to-do list.

I'm not sure how the backtesting would easily be accomplished but having the RPI history would be the place to start.

Ideally this would all (RPI history, bet tracking) be in a database and then we could query results based on any criteria we specify.  This will be my next project but it's still in the planning stage.

PS. could you tell me please why when I want to update RPI it doing that BUT making #ARGs in RPI playes + Bet button wont work... it work but excel what to debug something.

I'm sorry for the trouble you are having.  Unfortunately, nobody else has reported this issue.

Your problem could be due to differences in versions.  What version of Excel (2003, 2007, 2010) are you using and is it the English language version or a different language option?

Also, please note that the Bet button will not do anything on any lines that do not have a valid RPI play.  Valid means the game has the minimum RPI differential and all filters are true.

Ahhh that I think... I have Excel 2007 and Polish version.

Hmm maybe I will find on the internet a 2010 trial version and then everything will be ok.

Somehow, on the RPI sheet, column B, E, F and K, were showing errors (little green triangle on upper left of each cell).

To fix this, all I did was click the Update RPI button again and then everything displayed correctly on the RPI Chase worksheet.
