Our best NHL player props for Sunday, November 9
Take a look at our best bets and expert analysis below.
Prop #1: Nathan MacKinnon anytime goalscorer
The Vancouver Canucks host the Colorado Avalanche to kick off the late window of Sunday’s NHL slate. Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon has established himself as the early frontrunner for the Hart Trophy as he continues to dominate every opponent in his path.
The Avs have lost just once in regulation this season, in part due to MacKinnon’s incredible scoring ability. Entering this matchup in strong form, MacKinnon has scored six goals over the past six games and is tied for the league lead in that category.
That success is likely to continue against Vancouver, a team that has struggled mightily in the defensive zone. This season, the Canucks rank 29th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).

Prop #2: Gabriel Vilardi anytime goalscorer
At the same time, the Anaheim Ducks host the Winnipeg Jets. Like MacKinnon, Winnipeg forward Gabriel Vilardi enters this contest in good form.
Vilardi has netted five goals over the past seven games and looks to keep things going against Anaheim. While the Ducks have surprised everyone with their impressive play and first-place standing in the Pacific Division, their success has stemmed from scoring.
Meanwhile, they’ve struggled in the defensive zone. Entering this matchup, Anaheim ranks in the bottom half of the league in goals allowed per game, shots on goal allowed per game, and penalty kill percentage.

Prop #3: Mark Scheifele Over 0.5 power-play points
Not only are the Ducks struggling to kill off penalties, but they’re also taking them at a high rate. This season, Anaheim ranks 25th in penalty minutes per game.
If those special-teams woes continue, Winnipeg center Mark Scheifele is likely to be involved. A quarter of Scheifele’s points this year have come on special teams, and he leads the team in that category.
Finally, Scheifele has recorded 14 points over the past 15 games against the Ducks. Four of those have come on the power play.
