Noah Hanifin has turned into a one-man shooting machine to start the season, pacing a stacked Vegas Golden Knights lineup in shot attempts per game.

My Panthers vs. Golden Knights predictions and NHL picks expect more of the same tonight, with Hanifin primed for another busy night against a Florida team that’s content to concede perimeter looks.

Here’s how I’m betting Monday’s matchup between the Panthers and Golden Knights.

Panthers vs Golden Knights prediction

Panthers vs Golden Knights Best bet: Noah Hanifin Over 1.5 shots on goal (-145)

Noah Hanifin has attempted nearly eight shots per night, translating to an average of three shots on goal.

The Vegas Golden Knights defenseman generated no fewer than five attempts in any of his four games. That was the magic number for Hanifin a season ago, as he recorded multiple shots on target in 86% of his games when attempting at least five, his low thus far.

We should expect the volume to sustain itself given his current role. He is logging just under 24 minutes per game with Alex Pietrangelo now out of the fold.

When setting the baseline to 23 minutes played last year, Hanifin averaged well over five attempts per game and cleared this line in just under 70% of his appearances.

The Florida Panthers are a strong shot suppression team, but they’ve given up significantly more volume when unable to control matchups on the road.

Their ranking in suppressing shots vs. defensemen is also worse than against wingers or centers. They’re happy to give up shots on the perimeter.

Hanifin excelled against a full Panthers lineup last year, attempting 5+ shots in both games they played.

Expect no different this time around.
