The Vegas Golden Knights will look to take a 2-0 lead tonight when they welcome the Edmonton Oilers to T-Mobile Arena for Game 2 of their second-round series.
Vegas came out on top in Game 1 despite a four-goal effort from Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl and will look to match a franchise record with a sixth straight postseason victory in Game 2.
Can Vegas contain Edmonton’s star power, or will Draisaitl and company even up the series? We’ll discuss that and more in our Oilers vs. Golden Knights NHL picks and predictions for Saturday, May 6.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Game 2 predictions
The Golden Knights took the win in a 6-4 thriller last time out thanks to their strong depth. Ivan Barbashev scored a pair of goals while Jack Eichel and Mark Stone each had a goal and an assist.
Where Vegas will want to improve for Game 2, though, is on the defensive end. Laurent Broissoit allowed four goals on just 27 shots for an .852 SV% — his worst performance of the postseason so far. However, that defensive improvement may be easier said than done coming up against a star-studded Oilers squad.
Despite the loss, Leon Draisaitl was the star of Game 1, scoring four goals on five shots with two of his markers coming on the power play. Draisaitl is up to a whopping 11 goals in seven games this postseason — four more than the next-closest skater — while his 15 points are tied for the league lead.
The Oilers star has scored in four straight games with eight tallies total over that span and has only failed to find the back of the net once in these playoffs.
While the Golden Knights will surely try to slow him down in Game 2, I suspect we’ll see Draisaitl pot at least one more goal tonight.
My best bet: Draisaitl to score (-125)

Oilers vs Golden Knights Game 2 moneyline analysis
The Oilers somewhat surprisingly opened as the road favorite for Game 2 at -133 on the moneyline, with their edge settling at around -125 at most books by this morning. Despite Edmonton’s star power, I think Vegas will continue to carry the play and take a 2-0 series lead on home ice.
The Golden Knights were the better team in Game 1, outshooting the Oilers 34-27 while holding about 58% of the expected goals share. The Oilers made them pay on the man advantage, where Draisaitl scored two of his four tallies across four power play opportunities. If Vegas can stay disciplined, it’ll take away a lot of Edmonton’s scoring threat.
Vegas also enters play on a five-game win streak dating back to Game 2 of their first-round series — one victory shy of the club’s longest postseason run in franchise history. The Golden Knights are playing great hockey right now and if a four-goal outing from Draisaitl couldn’t stop them in the series opener, it’s hard to see what else the Oilers can do to stop the streak.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Game 2 Over/Under analysis
The total for Game 2 opened at 6.5 goals and jumped up to 7 at some books by Saturday morning. These clubs usually produce high-scoring games, which is why I’m taking the Over tonight.
The Over is 4-0-1 in the last five meetings between Vegas and Edmonton, with the teams combining for at least seven goals in each of those contests.
Meanwhile, the Over has cashed in four straight games for the Oilers and in four of the last five meetings in Vegas.
The Golden Knights (4.17 GPG) and Oilers (4.14 GPG) own the first and second-ranked offenses during these playoffs. Vegas has scored four-plus goals in five of six contests while Edmonton has hit that mark in five of seven games. Look out for another fast-paced, high-scoring game tonight.
