The Calgary Flames host the Florida Panthers on Saturday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome, and the NHL odds have the Panthers as -179 favorites.

Calgary forward Jonathan Huberdeau has been on fire, and my Flames vs. Panthers predictions believe he'll score in his fourth straight game.

Read on for my NHL picks for Saturday, December 14.

Jonathan Huberdeau anytime goalscorer (+300 at BET99)

My Flames analysis
Jonathan Huberdeau not only leads the team in scoring but in power-play goals as well.

I mention this stat because the Florida Panthers have struggled to stay out of the box. They rank 28th in penalty minutes taken per game, nearing a troubling 10-minute average.

That will be a problem against Huberdeau, who has led the Calgary Flames to the top half of the league in power play percentage.

Furthermore, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is slated to guard the cage for Florida. He has not played up to his usual standards this year, posting a .892 SV% through 20 starts.

Among the 16 goaltenders to make at least 20 appearances in the crease this season, Bobrovsky ranks second-to-last in goals saved above expected per 60 minutes.

These woes could continue against the Flames — a team Bobrovsky is 1-3-1 against over the past five meetings with a .842 SV% and 4.99 GAA.

Huberdeau faced his former team only in the most recent of those five outings, but he found the back of the net in that contest.

Given Huberdeau’s recent form, Bobrovsky’s inconsistencies, and Florida’s penalty issues, I believe Huberdeau will score for the fourth straight game tonight.

Flames vs Panthers same-game parlay (SGP)

Jonathan Huberdeau anytime goalscorer

MacKenzie Weegar Over 0.5 assists

Flames moneyline

The best candidate to assist Huberdeau's goal is Mackenzie Weegar, the team’s top defenseman and quarterback of the first power play unit. Due to his role, Weegar leads the team in assists this season.

With Calgary's man advantage clicking at a high rate and Florida likely to spend plenty of time in the box, I have to give the advantage to the home side.
