Their eight-game road win streak up in smoke, the Vancouver Canucks look to get back into the win column as their 6-game road trip stops in Buffalo to take on the Sabres.

Vancouver has won three straight in this head-to-head and is a slight -113 moneyline favorite in the NHL odds.

With the likely return of Kevin Lankinen between the pipes, my Canucks vs. Sabres predictions and NHL picks have the visitors bouncing back.

My Canucks analysis
It was an uncharacteristic road effort for the Vancouver Canucks, who dropped a 5-4 decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins, who had just four home wins in 12 starts and currently sit last in the Metropolitan division.

This is a team that currently leads the NHL in goals against on the road at 2.20, supported by an offense that pots 3.5 goals per game, which is tied for sixth best.

The four goals matched a season-high surrendered on the road, which hadn't happened since Vancouver's opening away game this season, a 4-1 loss in Tampa.

However, Canucks fans will probably be relieved to know that both of those came with backup Arturs Silovs in the net.

A return to Kevin Lankinen in net is an instant upgrade, as the 29-year-old Fin is a perfect 8-0-0 away from Rogers Arena this season, sporting a 1.62 GAA and a save percentage of .941.

The Canucks still aren't whole and won't be in Buffalo, with JT Miller (personal) and Filip Hronek (upper body) already ruled out for Friday.

The Buffalo Sabres are playing their best hockey of the season, though their three-game win streak was snapped last team out, as they were bottled up in a 1-0 defeat to the Minnesota Wild.

Still, overall, the Sabres have worked their way into fifth in the Atlantic Division, with wins in seven of their last 10.

This will be the third time in 2024 the Canucks will have played the Sabres. Vancouver shut out Buffalo 1-0 on Jan 13 and most recently topped them 3-2 on March 19.

Overall, the 'Nucks have won three out of their last four at the KeyBank Center, and after a wakeup call in Pittsburgh, this presents itself as a nice landing spot to bounce back.

Canucks vs Sabres Odds analysis

Vancouver is 10-4-2 in the 16 games when they have scored more than two goals. The Canucks have been the betting favorite six times in the last 10 contests, going 4-2 on the moneyline.

Buffalo is just 6-6-0 at home this season. In their last four games as a moneyline underdog, the Sabres are 3-1.
