We’ve got 12 games on the NHL betting slate tonight, including an Original Six matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens.

The Buds' offense has finally arrived this season, and I expect them to continue filling the net tonight against a team struggling to stop pucks.

Find out why with my Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs predictions and NHL picks for Saturday, December 6.

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs prediction

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs Best bet: Maple Leafs team total Over 3.5 goals (-105)

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won three games in a row and are playing their best hockey of the season. The Buds are spending less time in their zone, which is leading to more scoring opportunities as they create higher-quality chances.

As a result, Toronto’s offense has come alive, averaging 5.3 goals per game over this three-game stretch. I expect that to continue tonight against a Habs team that has really struggled to keep the puck out of the net of late.

The Montreal Canadiens are on the decline after a hot start to the season. They’ve lost nine of their last 14 games, allowing an average of 3.93 goals per game since November 1, while ranking 25th in xGA over that stretch.

The goaltending hasn’t been sharp lately either. The duo of Jakob Dobes and Samuel Montembault has a combined SV% of .858 over their last 15 games.

If Toronto remains as connected as a group as they were to end off their latest road trip, the Buds should continue to produce offensively tonight and hit the Over in their team total.

Additionally, the Buds have had a lot of recent success against the Habs, winning eight of the last 10 meetings, while scoring an average of 3.8 goals per contest.

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs same-game parlay

I’ll continue to bet on offense for the Leafs and take Auston Matthews to score an anytime goal. The top line is finding chemistry, and it’s resulted in a four-game point streak for Matthews with goals in two of the last three games.

He’s also scored 29 times against Montreal, including seven tucks in his previous 10 meetings.

I'll add John Tavares going over 2.5 shots on goal to my SGP. The Leafs’ veteran leads the team with 83 shots this year and has gone over tonight’s posted total 12 times in his last 14 games. So we’ll add that as the final leg of the SGP.

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs SGP

  • Toronto Maple Leafs team total Over 3.5
  • John Tavares Over 2.5 shots on goal
  • Auston Matthews anytime goalscorer
