Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Titans vs Raiders spread pick: Raiders -6.5
The Las Vegas Raiders have a golden opportunity to handle business at home against a Tennessee Titans team coming off a road upset over the Arizona Cardinals.
While the Titans have momentum, their rookie quarterback, Cam Ward, and inconsistent offense should struggle to sustain drives against a more experienced Raiders defense.
The Raiders’ secondary and pass rush, while hardly elite, have enough veterans with the experience and talent that should pressure Ward into mistakes.
Geno Smith has thrown nine interceptions this season, but he’s up against an exploitable Titans defense allowing 220 passing yards, which Jakobi Meyers and Brock Bowers can and should have success against.
Vegas has dropped four straight, and this acts as an excellent "get right" spot.
Early Titans vs Raiders total pick: Over 41.5
This total feels low.
While neither offense has shown much thus far, that could and should change on Sunday, as we have two Bottom 10 defenses that can’t seem to stop anyone.
The Titans' stop unit has allowed 33 or more points twice already this season. Their rushing defense is in the Bottom 3, which means Ashton Jeanty should eat enough to open up the passing game.
Vegas will need to score because its defense is in tatters. It's surrendered 40 or more points twice, and the versatile Ward and his improving offense can and should capitalize on the mismatches to add points to the scoreboard.
