A Thursday Night Football matchup between a couple of two-win teams suddenly has a little bit of juice with Lamar Jackson scheduled to return for the Baltimore Ravens against a Miami Dolphins team that’s coming off its best offensive performance of the season.

Despite being on the road, Baltimore is favored by 7.5 points, while the total for the game is one of the highest of the week at 50.

With the game taking place in Miami, my early Ravens vs. Dolphins predictions and NFL picks think Miami could have a little bit of fight in them, while the lofty total for October 30 might not be high enough.

Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.

Early TNF spread pick: Dolphins +7.5

Yes, the 2025 Miami Dolphins have been a joke for the most part, but they’ve been competitive in their three home games despite losing two of them at the hands of the Patriots and Chargers — both of whom would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.

Digging into some stats, Miami is averaging a respectable 27 points per game at home while ranking in the Top 10 in yards per play.

This Baltimore Ravens defense has been lit up on multiple occasions this season, as they’ve allowed 37 or more points four times already while ranking 25th in yards allowed per play.

Baltimore’s defense has been awful in a few key areas, ranking 28th on third down and 26th in the red zone. They’re also having trouble pressuring opposing quarterbacks, as they rank a surprising 30th in QB pressure percentage. As a result, I think Miami has enough offensive ability to exploit these areas and make things competitive on their home field.

Early TNF total pick: Over 50

While the Dolphins' spread might be a tough sell for some, the Over shouldn’t be.

Going back to September of last season, the Over has hit in nine straight Dolphins’ home games. The Dolphins offense has done plenty of the heavy lifting in these games, as they’ve scored 27 or more points in eight straight home games.

The Ravens are on one hell of an Over tear in their own right, as its hit in six of seven games for them this season.

With Jackson expected back, it should be pointed out that the four games he’s played in this season all resulted in at least 57 combined points, with the four games having an average combined score of 66 points.

Any analysis of a Dolphins' game wouldn’t be complete without the firm observation that their defense is among the worst in the NFL. They rank 26th or worse in points allowed, yards per play allowed, and opponent third-down conversion percentage.

With Baltimore scoring 30+ points in seven of their last eight regular season games with Lamar as the starter, expect a major breakout from this offense with their MVP back in the fold.
