The Green Bay Packers are road underdogs for their NFC North clash with the Detroit Lions kicking off at 4:25 p.m. ET at Ford Field on Sunday, Oct. 25.

My early Packers vs. Lions predictions and NFL picks expect Green Bay to cover the spread with the total going Under the number in Week 7.

Early Packers vs Lions spread pick: Packers +3.5

The Green Bay Packers have flipped the script to cover the number in three straight while allowing just 11.3 points per game and pacing the NFL in defensive DVOA.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love has aired it out for 8.2 yards per attempt and a 9.6 aDOT while posting a high-end 101.8 NFL passer rating during the three-week surge, and the offense stands to benefit from No. 1 running back Josh Jacobs returning.

So, with the Detroit Lions ranking 25th in defensive DVOA, I’m confident the Packers can hang around with this spread trading above the key number of 3.

Detroit has allowed a healthy 5.6 yards per play and the highest EPA per play through five games, after all.

Early Packers vs Lions total pick: Under 52.5

The Packers don’t need to completely replicate their defensive success of the past three weeks on Sunday to keep this total Under the number.

I’m also anticipating the Week 6 bye to help the Detroit defense show up and make more stops Sunday.

Green Bay will aim to move the ball on the ground with the Lions allowing the fourth-highest EPA per rush and ranking 22nd in rush defense DVOA; it will keep the clock churning and keep the high-powered Detroit offense on the sidelines.

Additionally, with the Packers also carrying the highest PFF coverage grade, I’m expecting Lions QB Jared Goff to be forced into a more conservative passing attack.
