The NFL International Series continues in Week 7 with the Pittsburgh Steelers as early favorites over the New Orleans Saints ahead of their 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France on Sunday, Oct. 25.

My early Steelers vs. Saints predictions and NFL picks are calling for the Pittsburgh running game and defense to lead the way to the Black and Gold covering the spread and keeping this total Under the number.

Early Steelers vs Saints spread pick: Steelers -2.5

The New Orleans Saints have been gashed on the ground and rank 32nd in run defense DVOA while allowing the highest rushing success rate.

It’s been a huge contributor to the Saints tying for the second-most points against per game (29.7), and it’s a particularly poor shortcoming against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.

Pittsburgh ranks second in rushing DVOA and fifth in EPA per rush, so I’m happy to back the Black and Gold below the key number of 3.

The Steelers are set up to control the time of possession, and their defense is also far more formidable with ranks of eighth in DVOA while allowing the sixth-lowest EPA per play.

Early Steelers vs Saints total pick: Under 44.5

Pittsburgh does a number of things well on defense that will keep this total Under the number.

The Steelers have allowed the sixth-lowest third-down conversion rate, and opponents have converted red-zone trips into touchdowns at the seventh-lowest clip.

Pittsburgh has also held the opposition to the eighth-shortest average drive length.

With the Steelers positioned to lean on their running game and keep the clock churning on offense, their defense is also set to limit the Saints.
