Two of the NFL’s worst teams will get the chance to pick up a win when the Cleveland Browns host the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams have struggled on offense, but the total is too low to ignore here, which is why I’m taking the Over in my Browns vs. Jets predictions.

Let’s break down this matchup of AFC basement dwellers in my free NFL picks for Sunday, November 9.

Browns vs Jets prediction

Browns vs Jets Best bet: Over 37.5 (-115)

At just 15.8 points per game, the Cleveland Browns have been one of the worst offenses in the NFL this season; their 4.3 yards per play ranks dead last. But that Cleveland offense may get a bit of a reprieve this week against a New York Jets team that has traded away two key defensive players.

While New York had shown some signs of defensive improvement as the season wore on, it also gave up 38 points in a stunning win over the Cincinnati Bengals before last week’s bye. That’s not much of an endorsement, and things have only gotten worse with the departure of cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams at the trade deadline.

The Jets have been a poor offensive team, but they do have a strength in Breece Hall and the running game. New York averages 5.2 yards per rush and is coming off a 39-point performance in Cincinnati. The Browns haven’t been overly impressive defensively, allowing 23.0 ppg.

Ultimately, though, I like the Over here because of the low total. The Jets have gone Over 37.5 in six of their first eight games, and the Browns have hit the Over in three of their last four. Let’s ride those trends and expect enough scoring to get above this low number.

Browns vs Jets same-game parlay

Along with the Over, I like Cleveland to cover, as they’ve been the more complete team this year, and the Jets may be scrambling a bit after trading away some talent ahead of the deadline. I’ll also take Dillon Gabriel to hit his rushing total, as it should take just one good scramble to get there, something we’ve seen him do in each of the past two weeks.

Browns vs Jets SGP

  • Over 37.5
  • Browns -2.5
  • Dillon Gabriel Over 6.5 rushing yards

Our big-ticket SGP: One hall pass

The Jets haven’t had much to brag about on offense, but Breece Hall finally found the endzone twice in their last game and continues to be their most productive player. That makes Hall a great choice to score in a losing effort as part of a long-shot SGP.

Browns vs Jets SGP

  • Over 37.5
  • Browns -2.5
  • Dillon Gabriel Over 6.5 rushing yards
  • Breece Hall anytime TD

Browns vs Jets odds

  • Spread: Browns +2.5 | Jets -2.5
  • Moneyline: Browns +115 | Jets -129
  • Over/Under: Over 37.5 | Under 37.5

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
