The 49ers are on a short week and traveling for an early kickoff in Atlanta. Jason Logan isn't standing in the way of another San Francisco win but his early leans believe covering the spread could be tougher.

The San Francisco 49ers try to stay perfect on the right side of the country when they visit the Atlanta Falcons in Week 7.

San Francisco travels to the ATL on a short week after improving to 5-0 with a win on Monday night. Oddsmakers have the Niners laying just over a field goal against an Atlanta team on a two-game tumble.

My 49ers vs. Falcons predictions kick the tires on this NFC outing, giving you my early leans and NFL picks for Oct. 25.

Early 49ers vs Falcons spread pick: Falcons +3.5

The Atlanta Falcons didn’t give themselves a fighting chance against Chicago last weekend.

A series of miscues and turnovers kept Atlanta at arm’s length, with the Falcons possessing the football for less than 20 minutes. They still managed to do damage with those limited possessions, finishing with the eighth-best points per play in Week 6.

Atlanta suffered through some high-variance blunders, which is why I’m not writing it off against the spread in Week 7.

The San Francisco 49ers are traveling on a short week for a 1 p.m. ET start time (10 a.m. PT) and have injuries on both sides of the ball. The Niners also have a much-needed bye waiting in Week 8, which could see San Fran play it safe with those ailing talents in an effort to give them extended rest.

One other thing to note: the 49ers' hot start has come with the team playing only one true road game in the first six weeks due to starting the schedule "Down Under" in Week 1. That one road stop was a quick trip up the coast for a showdown with Seattle.

I’d like more points with the home side but I'll lean ATL +3.5 early on, believing the 49ers could win this game but not cover that hook on the field goal.

Early 49ers vs Falcons total pick: Under 49.5

The 49ers offense got off to a hot start on Monday, putting up more than 300 yards in the opening half but got too conservative in the final 30 minutes. San Francisco registered only three first downs and 72 total yards in the second half.

Atlanta is a stiffer test than Washington, especially with a pass rush that can cook up pressure with just the front four. The Falcons are near the top of the NFL in pressure rate and QB hits, while blitzing at the fourth-lowest clip.

San Francisco is having similar success with their four-man rush. That gives the 49ers a lot of coverage flexibility for their zone-heavy schemes and has limited the amount of explosive plays against.

The Falcons had to abandon the run game against Chicago (24% handoff rate) due to falling behind early in the first quarter but expect Atlanta to lean into their ground attack in Week 7 in an effort to control pace and possession.

I’m leaning Under the 49.5-point number.
