A healthy Deion Sanders returns to the sidelines as the Colorado Buffaloes open their season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tonight.

Unfortunately for Deion & Co., my Georgia Tech vs. Colorado predictions break down why the Buffs could stumble in 2025, and how the Yellow Jackets are ideally positioned to capitalize.

Find out more in my college football picks for Friday, August 29.

Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET from Folsom Field in Boulder, with the game airing on ESPN.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado prediction

Georgia Tech vs Colorado Best bet: Haynes King Over 43.5 rushing yards (-114 at FanDuel)

For starters, I’m thrilled that Deion Sanders is healthy and back on the sidelines for Colorado. College Football is better with him in it.

I’m just not so sure how thrilled he’s going to be without his son, Shedeur Sanders, and Heisman Trophy winner, Travis Hunter. But it’s more than that. Coach Sanders returns just three starters on both sides of the ball.

The matchup with Georgia Tech won’t make him much happier. The Yellow Jackets look like a sneaky contender in the ACC this season.

That’s largely because Georgia Tech’s dynamic backfield duo of QB Haynes King and RB Jamal Haynes both return this season.

King is a true dual-threat QB. The senior signal caller threw for 2,114 yards while completing 72.9% of his passes with 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions, while adding another 587 yards and 11 scores on the ground in 11 games last season.

This team comes in confident with its leaders back and coming off a season that included big upsets of Florida State and Miami, and nearly a huge win over rival Georgia in a game that went to eight overtime periods.

The Yellow Jackets are physical in the trenches, and they’ll be the ones doing the rumbling on Friday night, pushing around the Buffs. So, take King to go over his modest rushing yard prop of 43.5, something he did six times in his 11 games last season.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado same-game parlay

Georgia Tech will win the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They will push around Colorado’s defensive line and consistently pressure the Buffs' QB Kaidon Salter. The physicality of Georgia Tech will wear on Colorado over the course of the game, and they’ll walk away from Boulder with a relatively easy cover. And at some point, Colorado will commit to stopping the Yellow Jackets' run game, opening things up downfield. Malik Rutherford is King’s best returning target, catching 62 passes for 702 yards last season. Over 45.5 receiving yards should be easy money. +439.

Bet on this Georgia Tech vs. Colorado SGP at FanDuel!

Our deep-ball SGP: King for a Day

  • King won't be the only one rushing the ball. Haynes (RB) scored 12 total touchdowns last season.
  • The run game will open things up through the air for King to hit a guy like Rutherford.
  • Georgia Tech's physicality should wear on Colorado, allowing the Yellow Jackets to cover.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado game predictions

Georgia Tech vs Colorado moneyline prediction

Georgia Tech is going to win this game. The Yellow Jackets will lean on their run game here and run the Buffs out of their own building.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado spread prediction

This line opened at Georgia Tech -3.5 and has moved up to 4.5, and I'd be comfortable betting it up to 6.5 because I think the Yellow Jackets win this game by at least a touchdown.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado Over/Under prediction

I'm going to lean toward the Under here until we get a better picture of what Colorado's offense looks like this season. I expect them to run more with Kaidon Salter at QB and their Top 4 pass catchers gone, which also lends itself to an Under.

Georgia Tech vs Colorado odds

  • Georgia Tech vs. Colorado spread: Colorado -3.5
  • Georgia Tech vs. Colorado moneyline: Georgia Tech -160, Colorado +135
  • Georgia Tech vs. Colorado Over/Under: 56.5
